Lessons I learned from fixing this way: 1. People define "double clicking" in any way they like. My issue was dragging and dropping not holding and clicks not registering. Applying this fix caused the metal to lose its durability. After a few months the tension spring broke off (the middle part you're supposed to snap in) on its own, so you lose a lot from the promised "20 mil clicks" (cheap omrons). Not taking off the spring and instead cleaning the contacts would've been the better solution. 2. Trying this instead of soldering may be the worst experience of your day. Taking the casing off is fiddly. So is taking off the spring and I suspect doing so damages it because the springy part gets bent sideways. Putting it back on may be trivial with enough skill, but will be an absolute nightmare the first time. Don't even bother if you don't have electronics tweezers with pointed tips. 3. It's possible to jerry rig a new switch from an old mouse, even with poorly-fitted parts. This is the actual cool part because my goal was to mod some nice soft switches that are great for spamming. They'll be stiff as hell at first, but can be modded by bending the tension spring with tweezers until a round arch is achieved. Trimming the spring with scissors and filing gives you a flatter click. 4. I hated all of it. I hated fiddling with parts so tiny and without proper lighting. In retrospect, soldering should've been so much easier, as all it takes to replace a switch is to soften the old solder and then put some new one with the cheapest iron, but there's no guarantee that the switch you're buying will work well with the mouse shell. tl;dr - Just try soldering. Or don't take off the spring at all. You WILL damage it.

I just fixed my mouse after more than a year of not working correctly, this does in fact fixed my problem of double clicking
@JanKowalski-pv4jnАй бұрын
It won't last because the tension spring is already brittle at that point. The best fix without soldering is to ruin another switch and replace the contact mechanism.

Good news is: I fixed the double clicking issue. Bad news: Only after I tore the pins from a grey ribbon that connected both boards (deathadder mouse) in my 4 hour clumsiness trying to put the spring back in place. 👍Maybe I'll try fixing that next
@SevenSixTwo2012Ай бұрын
This is not worth the time and frustration. The metal, once deformed, will no longer retain its springiness in the long term once you bend it back. The only permanent "fix" is to buy a replacement switch, de-solder the old one on the board and solder in the new one.
@JanKowalski-pv4jnАй бұрын
It is useful to at least know how to take off the cover. Dirt gets stuck in there and clicks stop registering.
@SevenSixTwo2012Ай бұрын
@@JanKowalski-pv4jn True. However if cleaning doesn't help because the switch is kaput, don't bother with half-assed solutions of "bending stuff". If you're stuck waiting for replacement switches from Fleabay or the like, then de-solder both button switches (right and left) from the board and swap them places. The left mouse button gets like 1000x more use, thus dies first.
@JanKowalski-pv4jn28 күн бұрын
@@SevenSixTwo2012 Maybe so, but I have no guarantee that I'll be getting a light-enough click considering the switches get random actuation force during manufacturing. Doing this does actually teach you how to mod useless switches from old mice. It took me an hour the first time. Now I can easily replace the spring in under a minute, and I did get the mouse to be pretty much effortless to spam clicks on.

0:20 how do you open these switches? The ones without the catches on the front and the back
@JanKowalski-pv4jnАй бұрын
You jam a sewing pin into the crevice near the button. Those are the good casings whose latches don't break off like on those shitty cheap ones.
@insquared1868Ай бұрын
@@JanKowalski-pv4jn yeah thanks, i kinda managed to open them after like 1 hour of poking the needle. My problem was the weird layout of my Razer Deathadder, the mousewheel blocked the other side so i needed to improvise on how to open them.

Thanks for the guide but my god reattaching the copper thing made me go insane. I just used the one from the 3rd side mouse button (since I never use it) and moved it to left click. Works fine now

Report with Razer Basilisk V1: After about an half an hour of messing with the switch, i managed to figure out what I was doing wrong and retried again with success. I have fixed my mouse as before dragging and dropping was almost impossible. I have bent the metal bit a bit more on the right click and there is an audible difference but that does not matter as the mouse finally works as intended. Thank you 10 year old KZbin tutorial in helping another mouse not to end up in landfill !!!

why does software even listen to 2 clicks within the space of 0.000000001 micro seconds anyway?? who is going to actually double click that fast? the answer is nobody, nobody clicks that fast

Personally, there is a brand that offers an 80m version. These for sure are not making the 10m claim. I'd guess maybe 2-3m at most.

Sand down where the metal click connects on each one as well. They corrode over time and you'll get a faulty signal, sanding the connection points down prevents this.

these guys helped me when OneDrive messed up all my game save files moving them into my documents in the wrong folders, and I couldn't figure out the unique location for each game file. Fortunately this site shows save data locations for each game in my library, turning years of searching into a few hours to fix. Saved my ass.

I found a comment on another video regarding the double click. No need to bend the strip of copper. Most of the time, it's the oxidize copper rust that's causing the issue. Ergo, all you need to do is clean the contact point and it shouls fix the double clicking
