I bought a Para 3. I liked it a lot. It certainly scratches the fidget-factor itch. Then I handled a Sage 1. Despite not usually liking liner locks, I really liked the feel of this one. And, on sale for an amazing price, I just ordered a Sage 1 in Maxamet.

Mine came with thumb studs installed. Being discontinued 😢, I bought mine, with copper scales, on eBay. I was wondering if they came installed or not, and you answered that question! What I’m wondering now is, can you really take them off in a second or two? I’ve never wrenched thumb studs; are they screwed in? These seem like they might slip out of the thumb hole; what holds ‘em in? Any answers would be welcome! BTW, I LOVE mine! The action is spectacular, light and fast, and with several options (thumb flick, reverse flick and front flip), using both the thumb hole and studs. Almost uniquely, the button lock works perfectly, without any stick whatsoever! Perhaps most of all, but needing all the mechanics to work perfectly to matter, the design and that copper are extremely beautiful! Anyone who loves fine machinery, even if they can’t afford a BMW, will appreciate the HIC-CUP. I do wonder about the name… I avoided this knife for years, because I didn’t know there was a copper option (which would have caught my attention), and because of its silly name. I didn’t take it seriously. Hic-cup? What does that mean? Well, I’ve gotten over all that now! The Kizer HIC-CUP is a GREAT pocket knife!

Is the vg-10 g10 verson on sale for 63 worth it? I like the look.
@EEDC19 күн бұрын
Ummmm yes and no. Honestly james brand is super like ... trying to be like Lois Vaton or whatever BUT the action is tight and meant to be! So if you want fidget drop shut nope. You can polish the washer add grease for smoothness but you won't get a good action (unless they updated the model like a v2) aside from that i really like it back in the day. That being said - the drop point is VERY drop imo and I dont like that in knives I prefer wharnie or sheeps so it's not for me but not a knock, it's HEAVY which I liked as well because it was relatively thing. The only thing I never really looked into on james brand is their heat treat and I don't remember the oem for the knife to verify. Other than that vg10 65 bones if you can get it without shipping and taxes yes otherwise 75 - 80 ehhhhh no (trying to tap into the reviewer in me, haven't reviewed a knife in over a year i just enjoy them now :) much more satisfying The Knife guy in me says go for it. The reviewer says if free shipping and no tax then yup otherwise no

I want the best steel for my knife. If it's tough and holds an edge that's what I want
@EEDC3 ай бұрын
Tough and holds an edge unfortubately are usually inverse of each other. You're basically living in a s45 range magnacut also fits that bill perfectly for edc but def not for like camping fixies ya know? Also - benchmade IMO SUCKS at heat treat leaving you a tough edge that doesn't hold for shit regardless of the steel... go for hogue over benchmade all day long.

How is/was the Axis lock fresh out of the box when pressing it down? I bought a Freek in S90V steel with carbon fiber grips and the Axis lock when pull down was gritty. Almost like two granules of sand was in it. I lubed it and it was still gritty, and the Freek was brand new. I mailed it back to exchange it for a new one. If the new one is gritty I’m done with the Freek.
@EEDC3 ай бұрын
Been out of the game awhile but benchmade is gritty and lock sticky af. Imo benchmade is overrated and overpriced. GO with hogue 100% better Qc, feel, amd heatrreat is great too. Benchmade shit should be priced 25% lower all around for it to be competitive in my opinion. At least spyderco heag treats their shit well

@@EEDC I do love my Spydercos, I have the PM2 Salt, Para3 Salt, Dragonfly in H2 and a 2014 Endura 4. But I love my over priced Benchmades. Hopefully my Freek when it comes isn’t gritty. Otherwise it’s going back and I’ll be Freekless.

Had a Huntsman SAK all my life. My first folder was a Civivi Elementum (linerlock) which i still carry. For fidget reasons bought the Sencut Sachse a year later which is a fun knife but boring profile. Now, a year later i went for a Spyderco PM2 and think this is going to be my last knife. I really love my Civivi Elementum more since it carries so nice in the pocket, almost like its not there but my PM2 is a really heavy duty beast. I would not dare certain tasks with a button lock. The springs needs to be replaced and you mostly only know when, when the lock fails. So spinewack your button locks every month or so just to check if the lockup is still good.

Looks like there’s a huge difference in the lanyard hole. I suppose that would make the difference for some users.

I’m not a fan of Rick either. His groups on Facebook are run by Nazis, your opinion is always wrong according to him and to top it off my Project X Magnacut had the worst heat treat of ANY knife I’ve ever owned, and ive owned thousands of knives. I could NOT get a good edge on that knife no matter what, wicked edge, paper wheels, hand sharpening etc. the bur just would never go away it was so soft. I had to sell it at a huge loss.

I got the 0452 in Magnacut steel. Better all the way around. I personally like longer blades. Almost all my pocket knives are 4 inches or longer. Coming from fixed blades, I just can't adapt to anything less than 3.5 inches and again prefer 4 inches or even 4.5. I'm not afraid of 8 ounces of a knife, and I usually have at least 3 EDC knives on me at all times! Over kill,? Maybe, but I do it anyway! So when people whence at 6 ounces, I laugh inside and think to myself, wimp!
