Just ordered a premier in the 7 foot medium light fast action. I have the same rod in medium but I find i’m ripping hooks with ned rigs and dropshots. Think its a bit too stiff for finesse fishing
@usfishermen5 ай бұрын
ML is great for dropshots. In fact, that’s my dropshot rod😂

The 7’ ML fast action spinning rod from St Croix is such a well balanced, sensitive and versatile blank.

Im a st-croix fan. But after few year and 2 premier rod,1 avid, 1 mojo and 1 trumph, I looking what the comptition do and if you look just the st-croix premier, this rod have not a lot of tech or something special for the price..if you looking okuma rod..you can find somthing a lot cheaper for something look like the same.But the st-croix premier are handmade in USA so probably very durable vs another brand or vs the triumph made in mexico.
@usfishermen10 ай бұрын
I see what you mean. However, I don’t think there have been any incredible advances with the new tech with other rods. St. Croix still uses top of the line guides and reel seats, and their blanks are the most sensitive that I have held in my hand. It doesn’t justify switching for me! But I completely see what you mean and it would be interesting to see some side by side tests between St Croix and competitors

@@usfishermen Help me decide on a "everyday rod" looking to fish trout and bass mostly. Im looking between St. Croix victory, Premier or Dobyns fury. Thanks

@@jonathonborges2914 Premier Medium or Medium Light (smaller trout/bass and lighter lures) will both be great options. I’d opt for a medium light personally! 7’ is a great length.

What type of rod action/speed would you use for heavy tube jigs (2-4oz) up to 120' and why?
@usfishermen10 ай бұрын
The same rod we used in the video works great for heavy tubes. MH or H Fast action Shimano Teramar in that 7’-7’6” range. They load up really well with big fish so you don’t lose many from head shakes etc.. but they also have enough backbone to get them to the surface easily.
