Just bought my first bike, its also an R6.. never rode before. 30k miles for 1300, decent condition. Look forward to learning! (Work too many hours to ride rn)

I started on a r6. I never past 7k. In traffic. I did not want to buy a 300 an then half to buy another bike. I have had it for 5 years now. The biggest thing is pay attention. Because people are not paying you no mind. Stay safe.

wheelies with half traction control on helps to not flip it ?

@@YassineOnTwoWheels makes it more unpredictable for me. It tries to cut power so you have to give it more. Better to turn off completely or on lowest setting imo. This R1 has old traction control that only uses wheel speed sensor, no IMU or true wheelie control

your point about dropping a 250-300 and having a difficult time selling it used. That also applies to a R6 so what's the difference. What most riders are recommending is that if you just buy a used 300, you can resell it for almost no loss after having it for a year. Starting on a 600 i4, you're also going to spend more in wear items than a smaller bike so overall you're spending more upfront just to learn.

My dad just gave me keys and the title to his 01 champ edition r6. Im planning on making it my lil project since its been sittin for abt 5 years. Im gettin my msf in july and plan to really on it. And personally im definitely scared to death, but watching these videos and learning about the bike makes me very excited to learn and makes me feel better by the day. Any tips on the restoration and riding in general would greatly appreciated man. I could be wrong but it looks like an 01 r6 in the video and its nice

Take it slow and get some gear. Have fun but be safe. Watch out for cars. Your 01 should have carbs, so make sure those are good and clean. Might have to clean the tank too. Mine is an 05 so fuel injected

I have a question, I've just bought myself an r6 2003 model.. I can ride it but not fast like the pros. I basically just cruise at around 60-80 mph in 5th gear. Am I doing any kind of damage to my engine by not revving it high and keeping the rpms relatively low for the most part? edit: also what is a tank slapper?

@@NotAMotoVlog We live in the golden age of motorbikes... However, the European motorcycle market is shrinking due to Big Brother emissions laws making manufactures pull out e.g. Suzuki and Yamaha. The stock suspension is excellent. If you haven't already, and before any tuning, I'd highly recommend getting the stock suspension set up by a suspension guy for your body weight: sag, rebound, compression. Also, try running thr tyres at 34/39 PSI. I'm currently running Michelin Power 5's at 190/55 profile. They are crazy good on the road.
