Winter is coming soon, so it will be nice to have the garden sorted before Spring. I am glad your Dutch heritage gives you the skills to make a dyke.

Waarom al dat jutte rond de planten zij de winters daar zo streng
@lex.and.marianneАй бұрын
Marianne is geïnspireerd door permacultuur. Kan ze misschien beter zelf een keer uitleggen in een video. Ik vind het vooral nuttig omdat we straks in het voorjaar bijna geen onkruid hebben. L.
@lex.and.marianne29 күн бұрын
De jute is inderdaad vooral om onkruid tegen te gaan. Net als karton doet, het vergaat langzaam, voedt de bodem en maakt het onkruidzaadjes extra lastig. Het hielp ook om vocht vast te houden in de zomer.

Hello from Cape Town, great to see your newest video. You both look really happy working in the garden, which is looking amazing. With all that rock it makes you wonder what, if anything, was done in that area before. It's a lot of stone.👍❤️
@lex.and.marianneАй бұрын
Thanks so much. We know that the part where we find this rocky soil was not in use as a garden for at least 50 years. L.
@lex.and.marianne29 күн бұрын
As Lex said, and apparently the soil around here is known for its rockiness. We can see it on all the farmland too. Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️M

Oh, how lovely to see you - the garden is going to be a gem. It was really worth buying the excavator, it was unimaginable to remove all the earth by hand with a shovel.

What are you planning to do with that straw?
@lex.and.marianne3 ай бұрын
At the moment we are using it for mulching and weed suppression in the garden. We’ll have to see if that purpose will make a sufficient enough dent in the stack. Greetings M

I'm a metal worker by nature. Love plants and seeing them, but I can't even plant and grow good grass. I love to work metal though! Even if I say so myself, I can make anything out of metal. So I cringed to see all the lovely metal going away. I guess we are all made differently. Glad to see you recycled it though. 😊😊

Sorry to hear that you cringed 😅. If it helps, I intend to learn the basics of metal working somewhere along the way. Thanks! L.

I'm enjoying the content very much, but I hope in later videos you do away with the music during the time-lapse portions. Keep having to turn the volume all the way down is getting bothersome. The music is not needed at all.

Thanks for the feedback. We think in later episodes the level of the music becomes much better balanced. We are still learning all these things. L.

My mother was born in the Depression era ,1930s New England, and grew up on a farm where everything was used and reused and never thrown away. I wouldn’t call her a hoarder, but it was close. So when she passed 20 years ago I had to clean out her house. It was quite a job, and I actually ended up needing help just from sheer decision fatigue. It made all the difference though, I felt 100 pounds lighter! Unfortunately, I need to do it again with all my stuff this time! 🤦♀️ Maybe this fall when it’s cooler I’ll order a dumpster, lol. All this to say, I feel you, and you have a worthy goal. Perhaps watching your efforts will give me the kick in the pants I need to do the same. 😂

Thank you for sharing that. Decision fatigue is definitely an issue here too. Hopefully we can get that to manageable levels soon. L.
