Great video content covering imprtant subjects having always loved seat harnesses, just getting into adjustable outhauls and experimenting outside of Severne's recommended outhaul and downhaul settings. Yes, I generally run my sail 2cm higher than suggested but will try raising it by 4cm as well as increasing my downhaul. I found that their suggested outhaul is the maximum and much better to run at least 4cm less.

not a foiler but there has to be at least one disandvantage in extending the length of the fuselage, like in the jibes
@Phil-ry2uxАй бұрын
Im no expert, and not that good or fast, but when I changed from a fuselage of 885mm (AFS) to 1000mm (Phantom) I noticed immediately how much more stable at >20 knots it was, and also how it glided around the gybes better. It could have been just the difference in the actual foils, but I doubt that.

I followed the IFCA competition that happened in Denmark this year and all pro riders told that they needed the 85cm board because the race lower wind limit was around 11 knots or something like that. This meant that all pro guys took their big and medium boards to the competition (limit was 2 boards). As there were 40 knots days, they had really hard time to survive that kind of wind on medium boards and actually needed their small boards. So I'm wondering if you have discovered something that the pro riders don't know or am I misunderstanding something. Really like the idea that I could only own a small and medium board that have much wider wind range.

Which masts are you using RDM or SDM? If I remember correctly, you used RDM masts earlier. Neilpryde does not make longer than 460cm 100% masts according to their website so just curious on your view on the RDM / SDM topic.

I love you enthusiasm but slightly disagree on some points. However, I am just a struggling amateur, so I listen carefully to you. Fin: I cannot change due to geographical loyalties. 85 Manta is just great for cruising, even with 7.7 on the Baltic sea with its very unstable winds. I am considering a 77 though, for light winds. 71 Manta is my go-to board most of the time, but perhaps I should go 66. And my 61 Manta is only for nuclear weather. Today we have such winds, but I have to work!

I nic więcej.

And one year later: soon after this video bought the same 77 (a friend too). Confirming everything - initially thought the 72/73 and 85 would do the trick and "refused" to think of the 77. But after one year I can say: this is the best board I ever bought - the board I am using most because very fast (speed + planning) and meanwhile really need >20kn to justify using 73.

I don't agree at all. Been on NP for years, so many broken battens, new sails with too long battens, need to be cuted. Trim is very sensitive. Lastly I got new sail where three of four battens were not in the pocket., Sewing quality is poor, repairs at the bottom of the sails . . Would love to stick some pictures. This summer I switched to GA after many, many years and it is all soooo easy, that I will stay on GA for sure. Have more than 25 sessions on Ga and they are in much better condition as NP after same amount of sessions
@cge7713 ай бұрын
It is all very personal. Using exclusively NP Evos (fin) since > 10 years. To me, major improvement from Evo 10 onward. But in terms of quality and breaking battens etc => no, they are definitely more than durable and I think I had one broken batten in total (I have many EVOs). At the same time, was hearing about many more broken battens on Severne (which is not GA / agreed). About sewing quality: yes, I was warned by a surfshop owner (not carrying NP) it would be weak. But in the practice never had to repair my EVOs for this reason. And I use them extensively (living close to the water). Anyway: are they expensive? Yes. Are they worth the price, for amateurs? I would answer with yes because they are definitely lasting (at least for me). Would I agree to pay full price in 2024 for the latest EVO Model? This is another discussion. Fact is that in 2024 you have meanwhile to "fight" to get a sail or a board, at least when you are living outside of Europe. With zero discount in comparison with Poland and Germany mainly. Makes it very expensive and not good for the windsurfing which is already in decline. But will I switch from NP to any other brand? No.

Hi Wojtek, thanks for your movies like the in dept explanation. Can i ask you for advice? I surf for 15 years and now I want to go faster (> 50km/h) and buy my first slalom board. I have free race sails 6,5 and 7,8 (16-25kn), the latter i use most together with an old rrd spitfire 129 and a bic 283. I am 85kg and surf mostly on a small lake the that can be choppy/bumpy. Now i found the x-fire 129/85 and others in that volume range size range like the 77 or 85. But im not sure if i should go for a little smaller board around 115/75 to work with my sails and with chop. Can you give me advise wat would probably make me most happy when buying only one first slalom board? Thanks! ps on crazy days 25-40 i take my smal lwave board.

The batten tensioning cams on the trailing edge of NP sails are susceptible to UV britling. I have had to replace quite a few over the years. This requires a sailmaker to un-pick the old batcam and sow in the new batcams. Great sails but the really need to come up with a more robust batten cam / tensioning system.

But I just had enough when in 1992 PWA World Cup in Perth Australia I broke my little toe in my right foot and still completed the whole slalom World Cup. It was so much pain that I said "never more". From that time on I use boots and live is great :) I am happy for that decision becouse after 38 years of PRO windsurfing my ancles would be dead if not for the boots. Try Prolimit Raider 2mm boots.

With so many different innovations from brands its seems almost everything works in one way or another. There is no better product as if something doesn’t work it gets changed. The only issue I have is they need to spend more time on testing and not change them every year. Specially now that foiling is involved and have dedicated people for the different disciplines.
