These engines sound so good. Not a good cylinder head design it saves gas but damn these were just low end torque monsters 300ftlbs of torque in the late 80s was unreal

I have a 76 Dodge power wagon clip cab four-wheel drive 400 Mopar 502 cubic inch stroker 37000 overboard 65,40 Pistons in it cut the Pistons down to a zero clearance deck height and fly cut the Pistons so the valves didn't hit 804 horsepower first time I drove it gouge down on it tore a 727 torque flight transmission broke the broke the case in half

Dodge power wagon clip cabs sometimes do break the break the case in half when you gouge down on them when they're strokered 37000 and overboard 65,40🙃

It might depend where you live. I have elbows coming straight out of my exhaust and it is way too loud from inside the cab. It sounds like a giant subwoofer at a steady hum or a drone sound at certain rpms. I want pipes ran out the back.

If you’re building the 400 you are starting with a big bore short deck externally balanced boat anchor that needs a lot of $$$$ but will make a screamer! It’s been a lot of years but I do remember that a 426-440 steel crank fits I think it had same size mains but a longer stroke 383/400 had a 3.358 stroke RB’s had a 3.750. I don’t remember what rods we used. All factory big block heads flow the same so just pick what size chamber. And the single plane intake worked the best for street and strip. At least an 750/850 double pumper. Sharp rockers and a big mechanical cam since you have the rockers anyways they

And no the RB 3.75 will fit but you have to turn the mains ,so I can already tell you don't know much so don't slam a stock stroke 400 I'm sure I could build a mild stock stroke 400 that would smoke any stroker you can build

@@williamjwarren3735 I know you can grind the mains from a RB crank. And listen up buddy. My 510 makes 870 hp @ 6400 rpm so don’t try and blow smoke up my ass you junkyard engine builder. My Indy heads cost more than you whole engine build costs. So bite me!

I have a 400 BB in a 1973 Dodge charger, original engine but alot of bolt ons and a few mods, (Pistons, cam, headers, etc.) You have to tell me what kind of air intake that is. It looks so nice. I have an edelbrock air filter but I would love to have a set up like that with the two air filters off to the side like that.

looks like an old unsilenced air cleaner with two of the snorkles welded on. the air cleaner you want is the 1970-1974+ dual snorkle. be prepared though, they are kinda expensive....like 200 bucks for one that needs to be cleaned and painted.

It could be the dual snorkel Air cleaner from a Lil Red express,but you could easily duplicate it with any enclosed air cleaner that’s 14” diameter,just cut a couple holes and weld your setup on it with 2 universal cone style air filters

thats not rod knock, its just how the a body big block tri y headers sound. i have the exact same sound on my 400 70 dart. ive got 35-40lbs oil pressure at idle.

You know if you decide to extend the pipes out the back all the way you can get more Bass. Think of it like a Trumpet VS. A Trombone. Longer Pipe=Deeper Sound..

This is due to tuning frequency. It plays into the audio world quite a bit. Think of a subwoofer in a potted enclosure, the length and width of the port play a huge role in tuning the subwoofer to either hit high notes or low notes. Figure out how much exhaust gas (air) your engine moves, and play around with a pipe tuning calculator. Should be able to tune for whatever frequency you want by modifying the pipe width, length, bends, crossovers, etc. and remember. Straight back Dual tips always give more lope.

Can I do all of that without a cam? Cause i dont actually *need* more than 350hp but it the 351windsor in my 89 E250 can do a lot better than 200hp naturally aspirated

@BG OBGAI i just installed long tube headers from hooker on my 1990 f250 351w, stock height. it only rubbed a little on the driving shaft. i installed it then pull it the other with a strap to bend it a little. now its totally fine
