Nothing wrong with that. Roughing it isn't for everybody and by no means does it have to be. Don't let videos like mine, where I rough it, discourage you from doing what you have to do to make your adventure fun!

Sudbury next door is so bad you need an electric fat bike just to navigate the sidewalks. Like you experienced most crossings have 2 ft or higher ice piles, its horrible but fun biking in winter. Just too bad the only thing in our way of a pleasant safe ride is city policy on plowing

Not everything works out in life and learning from your experience is an important part of the journey. Many people rely on Komoot and similar tools rather than use it as a tool to plan your route, it is important to learn the difference. I always carry a couple of packets of noodles or MREs. They are light and you can quickly come up with a warm meal - it’s great to lift the spirits when the going gets hard.

Bikepacking isn’t easy for sure. This video shows it. It takes a lot of mental and physical strength, and often planning as well. This video reminds me of my first bikepacking trip. I didn’t finish it either. I had just turned 17, and wanted to ride to the Ontario border, but only made it 265km in 2 days, needed to make it 330. The wind was absolutely horrible, and it felt like I was making 0 progress. It’s an experience to learn from for sure. I know that feeling just just craving pizza like never before 😂 All the best on you next adventure
@grahamadventure Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing that Liam! I've watched dozens of gear list videos and nothing prepares you better than actually getting on the bike and riding. Attitude is everything and a pepperoni pizza is the reason I keep riding hahaha.

Learning by experience. I'm one of those people that don't eat carbohydrates. One benefit of this is that I never " bonk" I started by carbs cycling before big events and just found my performance is much better when I'm fat adapted.

Good “trial” run on a pretty secluded trail… just keep in mind any bike packing/touring trip is going to involve roads, traffic will become very real, very fast. Unless you have a bike route/rail trail completely off road you know about. Good luck.

Well you just got one new subscriber, meee. I liked and subscribed. On first I was thinking what kind is this "american" who measures distance in kilometers hmmmm. Highway definitelly looks like in US (not Europe definitelly because here higways have fences all arround), but when I heard kilometers then I figured out that you are somewhere else. Nice scenery there and nice weather too. How many kilometers you made in the tour? I ride bike too, but have no need to do bikepacking. But I like long tours, 50 or more kilometers, this year I made the longest ride in my life, it was 136Km. Kind regards from Bosnia and Hercegovina a country you probably never heard off. It's in south east Europe and it is very nice country woth a lot of hills, mountains, rivers and even sea. Many ciclists fro all over the World come here, even today I saw two bike packers heavily loaded like you were.
@grahamadventure Жыл бұрын
This was a relatively low distance, about 90km roundtrip. 45km each way approximately. I have heard of Bosnia before, sounds like a beautiful place. Thanks for watching and leaving such a nice comment!

@@grahamadventure you can google Justus Reid, he is from US and he allegedly moved to balkans (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia). As I saw he visited all this countries and he really enjoys here, food specially.
