There are next to the magnification there are also diopter lenses for the Leica rangefinder. They simply screw on the back. My settings on my 240; Auto-ISO up to 3200; min shutterspeed /125; f stop depends on the situation. Set the metering to "classic" and the metering to center for much faster shooting. I never use liveview as it is slow and passes the intend of the camera for me. I love my M240 (i run a GFX for my other stuff, those colors are great); the feel of really creating the image is quite special. The Leica makes is more an event, a very conscious decision.

Overpriced and lots of the usual Leica faults such as battery and card retainers breaking and continues since the x1 - this is why so many are for sale. Not good enough Leica!!!🤨

I have both the leica 10 and the 240. The focus is easier in the 10 but the image is much more digital more flat, not so natural and vivid. Kind a film image in the 240. So it’s a better camera at least for my style.

Like this one! I own the M240 and absolutely love the colors and feel of the files out of it. I also use Fuji; canon and Nikon. But for a faster street shooter I am considering a Q. But afraid I will be disappointed with the files being to "clean" and digital. How do you think the Q files and colors are compared to the 240? Is the Q better in that sense than the Fuji? (I think the Fujis to be to "flat" and green and cold. Thanks! Keep up the good work

If you are concerned about the "more grip" get the grip for the same camera. As far as the black buttons instead of the sliver ones, go and trade your m240 to the same but the more luxury version of the samr the LEICA MP, Type 240. It is all black, but also with the sapphire glass on the back screen.

Own it. Use it. Like it. But (if you're serious about buying it) don't let the youtube "I can't believe you're sleeping on this lens!" stuff remove all your critical faculties. It's nice and worth buying because Fuji don't really provide anything comparable or better in the 18-23mm range. But they could have made it so much better. The worst thing about it is the focus mechanism. It's jonky and almost completely useable in manual mode. The image quality is pretty good. But not as impressive as a lot of other fuji lenses I've used... especially in low light for some reason. One big positive is that if you pair it with one of the newer bodies... then the auto-focus performance is really good... so you now longer have to worry about manual micro-focusing.

Crazy thing is when you said $600-$700 for an x2 when this video was made. In 2022, they’re all going for around $900+ USD. Many of them around $1100 or so. Crazy to think an old digital camera going up in price instead of going down
@itssimplyjeff12 жыл бұрын
you can still find em around that price if you scope it out. i picked up a leica XE for $735 + shipping on mpb in what looks and feels like essentially brand new condition. i've also seen a couple of X1's & X2's go for under $700 on auctions [just not buy it now on ebay]

I have an x2 and a TL2 these days, even though the TL2 is ‘superior’ to the x2, many times I find myself just grabbing the x2 since I have the Leica carrying case for it and I can just throw it over my shoulder then go for a walk. Small, compact, and capable of some mind blowing pics. I feel like the x2 really makes you work for those photos but it’s really rewarding once you get them. Lowlight is horrendous and a thing in motion is a total no go, for everything else is perfect

Great video, thanks for sharing. I currently have a Q and an X1, but also got a Ricoh GRIII for fast street snap shooting. The X1 is too slow for that, even when the image quality in good lighting is beautiful. The Q is also amazing and fast, but not as pocketable as the GRIII and having both cameras with a 28mm equivalent made me think about switching from the Q to an M240 with a 35/50mm lens. Got a Sony for video and had Fuji cameras in the past, so I share some of your feelings. I hope I can get that M240 and enjoy the old school vibe of the RF.
@jimlehmann16612 жыл бұрын
What are your thoughts on this camera in 2022...? Did you shift to a Q or stay with the 'compact' X2? For me, the X2 still holds true as I can't see myself going to the Q, especially as I shoot with 'tact sharpness' is not important.

it depends on the lens you have on for weight i have the leica Summarit 50mm on this thing and it makes the whole camera pretty light weight i wouldnt compare it anywhere close to a dslr.. unless you are slapping big heavy lenses on it

You’ve got the M-bug too. That’s great 😀. I would dare you to stop using the evf and lcd. Learn to use the rangefinder. Otherwise you take away the point of using an M, according to me. Have you checked if the rangefinder is aligned? Compare two shots as you put it on a tripod. One with lcd/evf and one with the rangefinder. Maybee it is not you… The startup time is just as long on the M11…so it’s not only the old Leicas. I woud set the auto shut off on 5 min and then just leave the camera on as you go out. The battery will last the whole day anyway. Have one spare just to be sure. Learn to wake the camera by pushing the button firmley now and then if you are seeing things that might be worth shooting. Then it will be ready…

Alex On Streets almost had me convinced to buy one with his series of videos, but man the truth of 50% out of focus, makes you dizzy, and can't see well in lower light? I think it's not for me. It's too expensive for that to be the user experience. ✌️

Glad I helped. Tbh, I am getting used to it now more after 3 months, but still not 100%. Might take me a year or more to be second nature. Really takes getting used to. It's my daily camera though.

The M240 is a perfect camera. You can get an eye piece with 1,4 x magnification to enhance focusing. If the camera is slow to start up, your battery may be a bit old or the software need an upgrade. If the SD-card is over 50 % loaded, it will slow the start-up. You should not exceed more than 32 GB cards. It's always a good idea to formate the SD-cards regular. Never have a lens cap on a rangefinder camera, you'll forget it and miss the shot. I've been shooting with M 240 for eight years now and recently got a second hand M-P 240 too. I have a Summilux 50/1.4 and a Summarit 90/2.5 plus a Q instead of a 28/1.4 Summilux. The M 240 is great fun and a solid tool. Enjoy your M 240 and keep on rolling. Thanks for sharing your POV.

Very helpful observations. I’m looking into buying my first digital m rangefinder atm and the m 240 s quite an appealing and economical way of getting into the m system. I should also say that you should definitely keep your lens cap on if using the film Leica rangefinders because if you don’t, direct sunlight through the lens will burn a hole in the cloth shutter and ruin your photos until an expensive replacement is installed.

Have been considering this little lens. Price, weight, and its F2 are top considerations. BTW - Have enjoyed your in-ear monitor reviews. Sold off all my pricey audio gear and kept a small IEM kit (Blessing 2, SSR, FH5S).

Nice to see you coming from My audio channel. I still love it, and also fyi, almost 80% of my shots from my audio channel with bokeh is shot with this lens. I just recently transferred to the 16 1.4 but other wise its shot with this. ✌️

George likes 35 but not 28, he loves 50 but he hates 40,.. what profession does George have? For some weird reason most pros scoff at the 18 or 27mm (or 28 & 40 equivalent for that matter). I get it that there's less choice and they use these lengths mostly for pancakes, but claiming that some length is more creative or inspiring than another, I think it's all in their heads; you shoot more with a lenght, you get to know it better, that's all.

Maybe worth looking into the GA-1 lens adapter for GRiii.( Normally used to attach wide angle lens.) But you can also attach a 49mm filter, effectively sealing & protecting the GR lens system. I've seen some users do it. Camera won't be quite so slim, but it's worth considering. I'll probably do it when I cave in and buy one..

The shutter lag and slow playback is not a "limitation". It's a design flaw. A real limitation would be something like having only 1 fixed lens since the camera has certain benefits fro that choice. There is no benefit at all to having a sluggish camera. It's a flaw that adds nothing to the experience or functionality of the camera.
