Grew these for the first time last year from seed, grew very slow and small over the year, come the winter they died back, this year around feb/march a few shoots started coming up and then over the course of a few weeks they just died, so no idea what i did wrong, have light, water etc Also never seem to have any luck with Drosera Bina.

Great video 😊 Your Pygmy sundew gemmae that I got from you last winter are growing happily (some varieties better than others). I'm about to try to propagate VFT from flower stalks and have a couple of spare pots that would fit in my windowsill propagator so going to try Cephalotus leaf cuttings as well. I have a Mexican Ping I'm thinking of looking into how to do leaf cuttings, but the rosette looks quite young and has only just recovered from accidentally scorching the leaves in the greenhouse a couple of months back (it's now back in a large fish tank under a grow light!

Thank you. I just bought my VFT a month ago and it bloomed like crazy. I am watching the seeds develop now and am excited to try this. I also have huge flowers on my Nepenthes. I want to try her seeds too. :)

Can you make a video explaining how you made the bog barrels and what all you filled them with? I would love to make one. Also, what is the pipe in the middle for?

Thank you for this. Just a suggestion, get to the point quicker. Too much. Short and to the point is best. Thx again. Very helpful, once I got to the point on how to do it.

Just wondering why you keep these in a greenhouse. These are temperate plants.

Thanks so much for this video! I followed your exact method with distilled water in the curry pot and have successfully grown some teensy plantlets from some Drosera Capensis. The plantlets are very fine and about 1- 1.5cm long (growing from the original leaf cutting) and I'm unsure when to remove them from the water? I have some carnivorous plant potting soil - should I remove the plantlets and lay them on top of the soil? Or leave them until they are bigger?

What is the name of that sarracenia in 21:10? It’s gorgeous! I want to make a mixed bog. You don’t have it sitting in water? How do you water it? The ping is ok with all that water? Thanks. Lovely video

Hi Carni-girl, very interesting to watch. I purchased P. grandiflora last year and they very slowly died. I can only think it was the direct sunlight. Do you have any ideas? Best Dan

Could you store the seeds for whenever you would like to plant them? Is there a deadline where they will no longer be considered “live” seeds?

Wow! Love your Ping Rock, that is what I aspire to! Will be quite a long time before I can attempt it as I’ve only just come into the Pingdom! I purchased my first Ping yesterday! An agnata was all I could find but she had two babies under her skirts n I’ve taken six pullings! I heard of you from Jerry’s channel btw. God bless your endeavours 🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️. ✌️🤍🇮🇱✝️✌️

Where did you get the BCP golden eye from? Up until recently, I've found it really hard to get hold of pinguiculas in the UK other than Tina and Weser.
@carnivorous_plant_girl8 ай бұрын
I got the golden eye from West Cornwall Carnivores. However I have found UK Facebook carnivorous plant groups to be great and have got a lot from private sellers too

Thanks, I'll keep a look out when it starts to get warmer.

There are no pinguiculas currently on sale on that website 😢

Unfortunately West Cornwall typically only sells Pinguicula in the warmer months and will stop selling this time of year. However check out Facebook groups and ask there

Hi. I cut my pods from my plant and never realise that I needed to wait longer to plant. Can I remove them from my pot and let them dry out in the sun, then repot? Pllllleeease help me
@carnivorous_plant_girl8 ай бұрын
If you have already sown the seeds then you can’t take them off the soil and let them dry out as it is then unlikely they will germinate. If the seeds were ripe when you sowed them then there is a chance they will germinate. If they were not ripe then it is unlikely they will do anything

how long does it usually take for online shipped plants to recover/adapt and produce dew again? I bought some 3 weeks ago, and they still havent produced any dew (standing on an indoor windowsill with a growlight and 2cm of water in the tray) am I doing something wrong?
@carnivorous_plant_girl8 ай бұрын
Doesn’t sound like your doing anything wrong to me. Some plants take longer than others to accumulate to the conditions. Some may take days and other can be longer, as long as the plant isn’t dying off then it should be fine
@sasquatchdonut26749 ай бұрын
Well since you’re in Britain, you’d could probably fill em up with water for the vacation until they’re standing in it and it’ll be fine. For me here in north Texas, I gotta move them inside. I learned not to use grow lights for this the hard way lol

I find it interesting that the Venus Flytrap's range is in the coastal plain of the Carolinas, but someone has been transplanting them into the northern range of the American Alligator in Arkansas and extreme Southeast Oklahoma swamps. It has also been found in bordering Texas swamps according to the Ar. Wildlife officer I spoke to. I was fishing near Texarkana in the Red River bottoms and was walking to a spot I couldn't get the boat to and I saw some red in the grass and sure enough it was a VFT. I then noticed they were bunched up here and there. Ranger said they won't try to get rid of them because a hard Winter already destroyed a lot of them, but if they catch the person who planted them it would be a big fine and jail time. Considered an invasive plant outside the Carolinas.
