I love this book. It may be my new favorite book, but I will grant that hard magic is not something some people want, a lot of these seem to center around being boring and if you dont like hard magic (i literally dont know how you couldn't) then this book would be torture. anyways, I'm going to go relisten to it.

Mistborn is the perfect fantasy story...for a teenage angst ridden girl. To say the writing is elementary would be an understatement

On one hand, I would love Stormlight to get a TV show adaptation so I can see the great moments on screen. On the other, I just don't see how the TV show could live up to the books.

I’d say Mistborn is comfortably in my top 10 favorite trilogies, although it probably doesn’t break my top 5 (honestly, I think I prefer Reckoners more, since I have a soft spot for superheroes). Mistborn is similar to Harry Potter or the OG Star Wars trilogy - they’re not the deepest or best written stories, but they have a lot of themes, world building, and entertaining narratives that make them immensely popular with general audiences.

If you read nothing else, the first Mistborn book is worth the time if you like heist stories. Maybe it won't break into your top 3 books ever (you're right that people overhype it a bit. He's got a lot of readers new to epic fantasy who have no idea the kind of content out there to compare it to) but it's solid and really reignited my love of reading. His magic systems are almost sci-fi, but he uses a lot of higher ideals in his story themes that you can only find in good fantasy books.

I did not like Mistborn Arc 1. I did think the climaxes and resolutions were good but I thought it was a slog to get through. Started Arc 2 but just couldn't go through that again.

Iv been on the fence about reading this. The faithful and the fallen is one of my absolute favourite series, but didn't enjoy of blood and bone as much and found it a slog to get through.

I recently bought The Mistborn Trilogy and started to read the first book. It was kind of wierd at the beginning, with all the burning metal stuff, but the plot is becoming more interesting and I am liking it. Hopefully Matt may want to create another channel that could be called Nerd of the Mists.

It's not modern writers' fault that LoTR used every epic trope under the sun and left nothing for anyone else. 😂 Edit: just to clarify. You can't reinvent the wheel, there's only so many compelling stories available to us, so it becomes a writer's job to make it their own. Which means that Tolkien does not have the monopoly on these ideas because "he did it first." For one, the claim he used them first isnt even true because a lot of his inspiration came from mythology (Norse mythology, specifically, if i remember correctly).
@Hup.18 күн бұрын
Basically, take your silly plot ideas, leave them to ferment, then bake them into worldbuilding ideas.
@UncensoredScion18 күн бұрын
now that you're going into the crazy world of tumblr Brandon, you need to clarify what you mean by "MAP" as that doesn't mean that for the people you're sucking up to. "geological maps" would be better. Shame, you weren't ever cool but at least you weren't this.

I havent listen to war breaker but i gotta say I'm shocked by your opinion. Having listened to graphic audio stories first, regular audio books just kind of suck for me. It's hard to tell who what character is talking cuz the narrator is all the characters so I don't really get your complaint of it being jarring. To me it helps identify which character sang what.

I actually was thinking about this last night after I heard it’s gonna be 10 years until the next Stormlight book. Based on how long it took to write the first 5, with the 10 year break we looking at 22 years. That would put me at 62 years old… I hope I’m alive to finish this series

But that's exactly what happens in Mistborn. I love the series, but I don't think that Brandon executed his idea the way he wanted to.
