This was very helpful! I thought I was pretty good at carding, but it takes me so long! I was very surprised to hear you say that hand carding is faster for you than drum carding. I've been looking at drum carders but they are so expensive, so if I can get much more efficient at hand carding, I may just stick to that. I do enjoy it, just want to be able to get through ounces and pounds faster. Thank you again!

This doesn’t mention the warp capacity for the cricket. Stopped watching after that because that’s what I’m trying to figure out.
@schachtspindleАй бұрын
Thanks so much for your message! The capacity depends on what type of yarn you're using and the warp separator you're using. However, we recommend starting with about 4-5 yards maximum, and adjusting that number depending on those factors. Please feel free to reach out with questions and happy weaving!

Hello, Why do you place the background weft in the same shed as the inlay weft?
@schachtspindle2 ай бұрын
Good question! There are many types of inlay - some that have the background weft and inlay weft in the same shed and some that use different sheds for the background weft and the inlay weft. This video is showing plain weave inlay, but our course here: schachtspindle.com/products/2428341 shows three different types of inlay.

Thanks for reaching out and good question! Here is the link to the project that went along with this video: schachtspindle.com/blogs/projects/leo-the-cat-doubleweave-using-pick-up-sticks. Anu threaded 4 per dent in a 10 dent reed. Happy weaving!

Thank you for the threading and tie up. Great video. No one else show threading or tie up or what treadles to lift so you haven't a clue what they are talking about and shut down the video. Thank you very much for this full explanation x

Do you know how to do false damask pick up? There are a few videos on KZbin but without a tie up and not knowing what's tied up to the treadles they are a complete waste of time. False damask is a 3/1 twill and a 1/3 twill giving both weft faced and warped faced on the front of the cloth. It's normally treadled 1324 instead of 1234. That part is quite easy but it's the pick up part I cannot get to work. This weave structure will create a picture drawn on a graph just like double weave pickup but the cloth will be one layer as opposed to two layers. I would be grateful for any help you could provide. Thank you x

Gotta say, as a gamedev knowing nothing about weaving and trying to learn basic terms/concepts to better simulate mechanics, every "terminology" or "glossary" type resource I found was incredibly hard to understand (lots of assumed knowledge), but this video was amazingly clear, concise, and beginner-friendly. Appreciate you making it.

I really wanted a cherry matchless, and several years ago I spent the money and got one. I have loved it. Something about the old model single treadle in maple seemed to draw me. I was patient and found one. I had to do some reconditioning, and it has become wonderful also. It is a different experience, but it is very satisfying. I’m like Maggie!

This is the 'proper ' way to work with the mechanics of the wheel . It is the wheel that does the drafting while you skillfully draw back . It really doesn't matter what the ratios are - it always works with this technique . Great demo . Well done
