Thanks for tossing it around on the rocks. This is what I needed to see. I’m currently floating large lakes in a Pungo 120 (great boat, and it’s a keeper) but I’ve had my eye on Eddyline for a bit more speed but was concerned about how delicate they might be. I don’t abuse my Pungo but sh*t happens and it nice see that the Eddyline can handle an occasional bump and scrap much better than I thought.

This boat- can out riggers be attached to it? If so and I decided to put a 6hp motor on it would it be suitable to take it out on open water fishing around coast of the North Sea in calm conditions 🫣

Dan, love your vids... very informative. But, I have a question for you... I don't mean to go off topic, but after watching and rewatching your vids, I've found myself a tad disoriented. I have plans on buying a FF kayak. I live in a condo with an overzealous HOA. Hence, I can only store the boat at the local reservoir. However, they insist that all boats be 12ft or more in length. Finally to my question.... I'm only 5'8" .... Do I need the Moken 12.5 or the Lure 13.5? Will the Lure be too big for me? PS.... there aren't any FF dealers close by , so I don't have any ops to try them out. I'll have to order it. Thanks for your help 👍

I have a nice NRS PFD vest that I’ve been using for paddle boarding but I find it lifts up in the shoulders in my kayak. I’ll have to check out this vest and other Astrals. I love my Astral Loki water shoes.

Pretty cool boat. Maybe something to consider as I get more into paddling. I just bought a nice used Wilderness Tsunami 135 with rudder on Facebook marketplace to get started. I’m vertically challenged and older and have a Subaru. I can’t get the boat on J racks by myself so I’m getting a Hullavator. Packing inside in pieces seems even better. I was thinking it would be nice to have a second Hullavator for my husband but after research saw due to roof weight capacity you can’t really have two Hullavators.

Hey Dan, so I'm curious, have you experienced numbness in your feet while kayaking? I'm having that issue and even after watching your video this morning and going to kayak, still, numbness. Any suggestions for a solution to this?

When im reversing, which I do often, usually to turn around looking for my wife. Regardless, I spin my paddle so the spoon portion is in my favor, it may technically be upside down, ur getting much more authority than using it backwards. Ism sure most people actually do this instinctively, in case u never thought about it figured id mention it.

I’m 260lb 6.3 tall. Can you recommend me a good fishing kayak for fishing that doesn’t brake my bank and fit my size? Less than 700$

What about a cockpit cover to keep undesirables out while you're sleeping overnight? Don't want any surprises while paddling 😱

I have a normal Steller S14 G2 in Excel build, and also have issues with leaking cargo covers. After 6 years the cargo covers are very stiff and the layer of sealing foam unglues and leak in spite repeated attempts to get sealing. I much prefer the softer stretchier black silicone rubber hatch covers from Kayak Sport (these fit easy always and have never leaked on my composite Aquarius Sea Lion, although on polyethylene kayaks like the Ysak, the Kayak Sport covers can’t stretch reliably around the thicker edges). In any case Steller needs to improve the covers on all their kayak models.

Thanks for this! I’m a newbie and learn so much from all your videos. I have old sports injuries from basketball and volleyball and am just over 50 so I really need to get my arms and back ready for longer paddles. I’m still using rental gear and over padding on rec kayaks so arm fatigue is an issue for now. These exercises will really help!

Thanks Dan, just what I was looking for. I'm 67 and have been managing my stiffness since I turned 30. It doesn't get easier but I paddled 10 miles yesterday and I'm feeling pretty good today. I'll also add that a magnesium supplement can help with stiffness and soreness too, but stretching and strengthening will always be needed. I'll add these to my routine.

So sorry about your puppy. How do Sandpipers stand up to banging off of rocks like in rivers? I currently have a 2017 Pungo 120 but I want to upgrade to a boat with double bulkheads and more storage. I am 6' 1" 210 lbs.

All depends on the river. If it’s just round river rocks it will be fine. If it’s rocks with sharp edges you may want to consider sticking with poly.

Really excellent advice. Particularly the bit about better to do a little of this than not doing a “great” complex warm-up. Need to modify a bit for my wounded shoulder. But I’m gonna be doing this.
@michaelcunningham21056 күн бұрын
I'm not trying to nick pick. But you forgot the one major Golden rule. Do not let your head and or shoulders pass the imaginary line. On each side of the kayak. Otherwise you are going in the water most likely every time. If you need to pick some out of the water. It is best to lean forward as far as you can go. Then reach over the side and pick up whatever it is you are wanting to pick up. Not only this is a safer way. But also a easier way. I've seen too many people from beginners to intermediate make this mistake. Not only in kayaks but also in small boats. Like the canoes jon boats and flat bottom boats. I know it may seem funny now. But it lead into serious consequences. Especially around fast-moving water without white capping. Due to the cause of undertow. That can keep you underwater for 2 mi or more. Another reason why you must wear a pfd (personal flotation device) to help you stay on top of the water. Thank you for pointing out the mistakes people make. Especially for beginners. It helps me reinforced what I teach my kids and grandkids. The next generation of kayakers. 😊👍
