Hi Dan, I'm that new kayaker (59-year-old woman) who bought the Stellar Puffin a few months ago. It took a while for it to get to me and I didn't have much of a season left, but I was able to go out in it 7 times here in New Hampshire, and I absolutely love it! It feels very stable and fast. With the flat bottom it tends to veer immediately without the (over-stern) rudder, but with the rudder in it performs really well. My friend who only likes sit-in kayaks was impressed, and I was able to keep up with her 17-ft fiberglass kayak very well. I'm looking forward to hearing all about your adventure in the Egret!

That’s great! Yes the Stellar Kayaks are all designed around rudders, that comes from their Surf Ski background. They are a blast to paddle especially in choppy or windy conditions.

Hello from Rhode Island Kimba 117. I am considering a Puffin. Quick question. Do you think you could fish from it. I know it is certainly not designed as a fishing craft but after a few paddles do you think it is stable enough? I have an expensive pedal kayak that weighs a ton and I want to get get back to a light, simple, fast paddle kayak. Thinking Eddyline but really impressed with the Stellar Puffin. Thanks max

Kimba117 where are you kayaking in NH? I live in Newmarket and own the 14' G1 2021 version SOT. I am always looking for people to go with. Where did you buy yours? I will be working with Troy at Mountain Road Trading Post in Raymond. He is a Stellar dealer. I wish I had the G2 with a 3-point carbon footboard. Are you using a wing paddle with yours?

@@windsup2day Hi, windsup2day! So far I've kayaked mostly in the series of bays east of Ossipee Lake. I bought my Puffin from Wild Meadow Paddlesports in Moultonborough. For my paddle I got a Bending Branches Navigator with wood blades. My paddling buddy, Janet, and I would love to have you join us if you come up this way!

Hi Dan, I was wondering when you might have a chance to post a review about the Stellar Egret sit-on- top. It looks like a nice transition for an older kayaker (72) like me having more issues getting in and out of a sit-in kayak these days.

Secondly, do you have any plans for demoing in NH this year? I am going to be work with Troy from Mountain Road Trading Post (Raymond, NH)doing some work with promoting and selling the recreational Stellar and Eddyline boats... both of which I own.

Very Cool. I don’t get to the NE often. Maybe once a year if I’m lucky.

Any idea of top speed capability?
@HeadwatersKayakАй бұрын
Top speed is something I don’t pay much if any attention to. I’ve never been a GPS on my boat sort of a paddler. I will say it’s faster than a sea kayak but slower than a traditional racing surf ski, but not by much

Hi Dan - That Egret has really caught my eye about 6 months ago. When will you be taking that out? I want to eventually race but don't want strictly a race boat strictly, so for that reason, I have been eyeing this. Also, as a woman, I am wider in the hips, and this bucket is quite comfortable from what I've read.

Hi Dan, after seeing your video on the S16G2 I got one. Mine is the Advantage layup. I live in the UK and had to do some searching but found a stockist about 20 miles from where I live. Really like the kayak. Take care Andrew. PS really like you Chanel.

Right on! The 16 is still my favorite Stellar Kayak. I finally sold my orange 16 to a good friend and he paddles with it a few days a week. I’ll be ordering the same one for spring, just with Green instead of Orange. I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel. Thanks for hanging out and leaving a comment.

Dan that boat is beautiful!! Me and my buddis do three camp/fish trips a year. But we all have PDL Motorized kayaks. So we all carry less fishing equipment, and more camp and emergency gear. We usually do three nights on three different camp spots. Thats made for those nice long 10 day trips. 💯 🌊 🛶

Why cant the seat drain!!!???
@HeadwatersKayak2 ай бұрын
Your butt fills the space and it doesn’t hold water.

@@HeadwatersKayak my s18s holds plenty of water in the seat, it's terrible after a couple hrs.

Nice boat, but is puddling in the seat an issue? Couldn’t tell if it’s got a drain for the seat or not.
@HeadwatersKayak10 ай бұрын
It’s a seat pan, so your butt fills it out. No drain. The footwell has a drain. It’s also not meant for a seat, contoured pans and super comfortable. You could add a pads if you wanted, but most folks find it’s not necessary.

would you outfit that with thigh straps?
@HeadwatersKayak10 ай бұрын
I personally would not. No need to IMO. But then again I have a sit in if I wanted to roll.
@kevincasey294710 ай бұрын
@@HeadwatersKayak I have never paddled a surf ski or a hull like that but I have several plastic SOT's that I dive from. I have them all outfitted with thigh straps because I have found the secondary stability to be relatively poor past a fairly narrow tip angle, The thigh straps help. I'm not talking about rolling it, but what is the 2nd stability like to control in that?
