not working, after defining the funckey, pressing r simply types an 'r' in the command-line, closing the commandline made no difference either

Hi @jonsonj5249, it's difficult to troubleshoot without seeing your steps, files, etc. but here are some tips that may help: 1) Make sure the placement window is closed. If the placement window is open, pressing R will highlight components whose reference designators start with R. 2) Make sure you are pressing R when in the PCB canvas- not within the command window. Hope this helps!

*_THAT_* sure brings back memories! I first started learning PCB design in 1986 using a program called P-CAD. Later, I went with another company after a merger, and used TANGO when it first came out. The most fun for me was going from schematic to circuit board *_after_* the autorouter! 😊

How do I verify that the circuit output is "1" when the "1111" sequence is detected.

Good question! For this example, since the flip-flop is clocked, all new data bits start at the falling clock edge. The number of clock pulses determines the number of bits for the output.

We're sorry you're having difficulties with this. There are several factors that could be attributing to this. We always recommend having the most up-to-date version of the software. If the issue persists it would require some additional information to troubleshoot which our tech support team can assist with. For settings in Parametric Sweep, 'Sweep Variable' part should be 'Global parameter' (not 'Voltage source') because it's not a voltage source sweep.

Does IPC-2612 specify this or IPC-2612-1? What is the difference?
@EMADesignAutomation
@EMADesignAutomation Ай бұрын
IPC-2612 and IPC-2612-1 are standards published by the IPC which provide guidelines for the creation and management of schematic symbols and netlists for electronic components. IPC-2612 focuses on the requirements for electronic product documentation, specifically for digital data acquisition and generation while IPC-2612-1 is a sectional standard within the IPC-2612 series that focuses more specifically on the schematic and logic descriptions of electronic products.

I have a schematic but with old template, now I want to change the template to new one. What should I want to do??? I’m using 17.4 version
@EMADesignAutomation
@EMADesignAutomation Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! To apply a new template select Options > Design Template and choose the title block tab. Browse for the library location and define the title block name. This will populate the new title block on any new pages added to schematics. To replace old title blocks, delete the existing title block and place a new title block using the Place > Title Block... command.

Why are there no PCB Footprint in the CONNECTORS library? Why can't I just choose the right step from several options and that's it? Why do I need to draw connectors manually, why are the built-in libraries so bad?
@EMADesignAutomation
@EMADesignAutomation Ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! Access to pre-built models for connectors and additional components not contained within the default libraries can be accessed directly within OrCAD using Place > Component (the command may change slightly based on your version of the software). Within the Component Explorer, you have access to verified symbols, footprints, and 3D models from Ultra Librarian and Samacsys that can be placed into the schematic.

So how to edit the inner logic structure of the part? Only a square is useless.
@EMADesignAutomation
@EMADesignAutomation Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! This video only details how to create the schematic symbol for a part. To create the internal logic, a SPICE model needs to be assigned to the schematic symbol. SPICE models are often available from manufacturer websites or can be created based on the component datasheet. You can learn how here: www.ema-eda.com/how-to-page/how-to-create-spice-models-in-pspice/

I'm sorry and don't mean to be rude, but can you use a narrator with a different voice please? I think the unnecessary vibrations in the voice is obvious, specifically when pronouncing words with sound E in them (e.g. Designer, Ok, Menu, Search, etc.) it's really annoying what I hear. Again, this is not in anyway to undermine the great work you are doing with tutorials. Thanks.

How to put a net name on a bus. In my system it doesn't work. Please help me out. It comes on wire but not on the bus.

For buses, net names must include the name of the bus and the connections. For example, PROG[0-1]. How the mechanical holes may be accounted in documentation like bill of material? I usually use electrical symbol for the board mounts, they may be then drawn in the schematics and pass on to the board. If mechanical symbols are used, they either need to be placed into a board template (for reuse) or not forgotten to be placed each time the netlist is passed on to the PCB... A tutorial might focus on these options and differences in approaches.
