Where did you find bearing to rebuild with? Thanks

Just trying to finish left one on our Boomer 50. It was pretty well destroyed. I found what was left of the shims, I would say there were only 2 washers, and I got a pretty good guess at matching the thickness. I left it on the bench last night and was reading the service manual. It said to put the 4 different shims in. Do you remember how many were in yours. I have a gear stop and an indicator to check the backlash, I just don't want to put it in and out any more than necessary. Good informative video. Thanks

Very nice. Thank you! If you have all the part numbers including seals it is helpful. I am doing this right now and found you can take the top nut off below the grease zerk and the whole shaft including the blade will drop right out leaving the bearings in the deck to be removed separately. I have my deck up about 3 feet on homemade horses so I can access both sides of the deck to get the parts out and replace them. It wouldn’t be a whole lot more work to remove the last three nuts and remove the spindle housing from the deck, but the deck holds the housing so I can pound off the races and seals.

The factory manual suggests to add grease after 15 minutes of mowing. I found the preload on these to be pretty tight and the spindles got pretty hot right at first. I would mow, then add grease, continue to mow and add. I did this several times to ensure there was sufficient lube as they broke in. Once broken in, I found this mower to be an unstoppable beast in taller grass compared to my mulching deck.

What are the bearing and seal part numbers that you used?
@strum8258 Жыл бұрын
L44643 outer L44610 inner. They appear to be common trailer bearings. Seals you get from Messicks new holland if they are destroyed. The bearings on your unit should have the numbers stamped on them.

Any idea on the cost for the new hub as well as the hub housing? Mine just grenaded as well but galled the heck out of the spindle and housing. I'm doubtful the seals will seat correctly with the damage.
@strum8258 Жыл бұрын
I bought my parts from Messicks and I didn't see a listing for a complete hub, but LS curiously had a listing for the complete hub. I think it was close to $1k. You could try a used parts place such as Wengers.

Much quicker and safer way is to put something in between the lever and the grip and then to use an offset spanner to bend the lever back. Super simple and super quick.

I have the same pump and the inside bearing came off with much difficulty too. I placed some wood under the pulley for supporting the recessed ribs, and pressed it off. I took a piece out of the inner holes with a puller before pressing it off. Thanks for the video as it helped me save the cost of a pump. I found the repair kit on E-Bay. The shaft seals are also available too, on Etsy if the bearings are still good. Available from Bulgaria for $10

Should the pulley come off with simply using an impact hammer? Or is there something else that needs to be done to get the pulley off? I am bracing the pulley on two wood blocks and trying to drive the shaft (and body) down with an impact hammer.

I believe it’s 13.25” kind of an odd size. Early xr200r bikes had a rebuildable shock. In ‘92 I think they went to a non-rebuildable junk shock and reduced the travel a little over an inch.

Just look it up in the service manuel, this seems to be the way to do it. i'm definitly trying this on my (hard to start rmz-450) COMPRESSION PRESSURE CHECK << RMZ-450 value, check your service manual The compression pressure reading of a cylinder is a good indicator of its internal condition. The decision to replace the cylinder is often based on the results of a compression test. COMPRESSION PRESSURE SPECIFICATION **(Automatic decomp. actuated)** Standard 430 - 720 kPa(4.3 - 7.2 kgf/cm Low compression pressure can indicate any of the following conditions: * Excessively worn cylinder walls * Worn piston or piston rings * Piston rings stuck in grooves * Poor valve seating * Ruptured or otherwise defective cylinder head gasket * Decomp. trouble * Valve clearance out of adjustment. COMPRESSION TEST PROCEDURENOTE: * Before testing the engine for compression pressure, makesure that the cylinder head nuts are tightened to the specifiedtorque values and the valves are properly adjusted. * Warm up the engine before testing. Remove the related parts and test the compression pressure inthe following manner: • Remove the seat. (!5-2) • Remove the fuel tank. (!5-2) • Remove the spark plug. (!2-7) • Install the compression gauge and adaptor in the spark plughole. Make sure that the connection is tight. • Keep the throttle grip in the fully opened position. • Kick energetically the kick starter lever about 5 times to turnthe engine. • Record the maximum gauge reading as the cylinder compres-sion." 09915-64512: Compression gauge set 09913-10750: Adaptor

lucky u got your pulley off - mine shattered, had to drill it out.. VERY odd design, the pulley is actually cast around a 1" hex nut made from same soft material.. I think getting the c clip off as u described then putting a bearing holder under the pully right against the centers with torch heat works best.. fyi bearing numbers are skf 6202-1rs

What is the torque spec for the nut that holds the Piston assembly?
@johnsmith-cu2pg6 жыл бұрын
Men you should assembly the gaz tank with the shock and put gaz tank upper. Full the shock and the tank completely with suspension fluid and move the shock slowly until all bubble go out. Let rest the shock some hours and insert the nitrogen chamber in the tank pushing all the excessive oil by the nitrogen chamber out just enough to put the clips inside. Then full the nitrogen...

@mxfreaks6 жыл бұрын
Yours should but not positive, you will now though because it will become almost impossible to kick then you would have to hit you manual decompression lever that looks like a hot start lever. If you don't have this than it is an auto. Only mx bikes that I know of that have this are the 1st generation Yamaha's like the 400, 426 and maybe 250f also, 99-03 I believe, somewhere around there.

Thanks for the vid brother, this is exactly what I was looking for! I'm getting a bunch of oil spew out of my crankcase breather hose and I suspect it is blowby from the piston rings after I just installed a big bore kit. Apparently some of the kits come with too fine of a finish on the nikasil so the rings don't seal correctly but I'm gonna hopefully test the before and after once I deglaze the cylinder then put new rings and attempt to break in once more. It happens to be the same bike as here by chance except an 04. What would be a terrible PSI, below like 150? Thanks again
@strum82588 жыл бұрын
I've heard that 150 may be marginal but I'm not an expert. Post what you find. Thanks.
@samfricke32747 жыл бұрын
i am having the exact same problem except it isnt a big bore kit. i hope new rings will solve my problem. and when the oil was coming out of your breather did it also spew inbetween the hose and the hose hookup? i am getting oil around this area.
@mxfreaks6 жыл бұрын
New Rings never solved my problem, actually only going back to the old stock piston and cylinder fixed it. I also tried a high compression piston in size B with the stock cylinder and it did the same thing. I'm gonna try a 3rd different cylinder with a stock compression piston. I'm thinking that it's happening because of the extra compression so I'm gonna stick to the original 12.6:1 ratio. The extra oil was coming out of every gasket and seal that wasn't perfectly tight. One time it even blew the site glass out of my clutch cover. Did you get yours fixed?
@fredflintstone20772 жыл бұрын
@@mxfreaks I would have thought your breather pipe would have to be blocked to build up pressure inside the crank on a 4 stroke?
@mxfreaks2 жыл бұрын
@@fredflintstone2077 No it can happen I believe, you can put your hand over the breather hose and feel the air pressure coming out so if it was clogged it wouldn't be coming out I'd assume and if you leave your hand over the hose for a few seconds to feel the air coming out the oil will begin to accumulate on your palm. It was only an issue on the Kawasaki, suzuki and ktm I think. Never heard of a yamaha or Honda but it's likely the breather tube location. On the 1st few generations they put it mid engine on suzuki and Kawasaki so you would loose oil. Now most come from the highest point on the engine the valve cover and they designed a little pocket to protect oil from slewing in that area and mixing with the breather exhaust, its furthest from the bulk of the oil so if you are getting blowby you are just down on power most people likely won't even know. Only reason I knew cause I was losing alot of oil through the mist out of the breather tube. Like alot of oil. Couldn't ride for more than 45 minutes without running lower on the site glass than I'd risk. Bike ran fine though. Well just glad to have graduated to newer and nicer bikes but I definitely learned alot fixing these older 4 strokes 4 strokes!
