I always interpreted "going to combat" as declaring your first main phase over, and you were announcing combat in case there were any effects to be played before attackers, which avoids the awkward declaring attackers then your opponent letting you know they have a spell or effect, but you didn't clearly declare what step you were on. I would never in a million years take it to mean declare attackers... you would say declare attackers.

Been a while since I played, but I thought you couldn't have 2 planeswalkers with the same name on the field. There were 2 Teferi. Also, that Teferi is broken, casting instants is a huge part of Magic.

Calling Mana weaving a "cheat" is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. You are still going to shuffle, shuffle, shuffle, your opponent could shuffle etc..

Why not cut your deck after your opponnent shuffled it? Wouldn't that prevent most forms of shuffle-cheating? And it's not like that'd open any new avenues for cheating for the player cutting either.

I wouldn't call that a blunder. That Brian guy had no idea what Bob drew last turn. It could have been a counterspell for all he knew. It's easy to say what should have been done when you have all the information being presented to you, but but Brian did not have such a luxury. You know considering cards in hands are not public information to the players.

1 minute in, cant help but say not all infect is weak and fragile, theres colorless artifact crestures that do 5/5 infect, phyrexian juggernaut, i would buff him till end of turn, with +4/+4 confidence with strength, copy that creature, nothing states the buffs get removed after cuz its copied in its current state by mercurial pretender, now you have 2 9/9 infect with trample both attacking if able

Still don’t get why the judges sitting next to them don’t cut or shuffle the decks.would cut a lot of cheating out unless the judges cheated 😅

I’m still surprised by how many people don’t cut after their opponent shuffles. Usually I present to my opponent to cut. If they then shuffle I’ve always cut it.

We had a guy at our lgs ask if he could use a couple of proxys in our game, naturally we agreed because maybe he's trying out a couple of more pricey cards before he buys them.... this man proceeds to play a first turn that would be worth 1000s. Pulling out cards that are banned or insanely expensive like mox sapphire. Turns out his entire deck were proxys and if the deck was real itd be worth like 25k. We kicked him out real fast. Next time he showed up with real cards but we caught him hiding cards in his hoodie pocket

Idk I’ve main decked 4 surgical extraction in every deck I’ve built since it was printed. Turn 1 thought seize + surgical extraction is my all time favorite play.

The last time I bought a box was RtR and I remember it more than a lot of boxes before that, because I pulled Deathrite Shaman and its Foil from the same pack in the box. Was a good, last hurrah before I stopped playing.
