I carry my 535BK-4 with me everywhere. Mine is a bit heavier than the other Bugouts but its well worth it for the aluminum handle. My blade coating has some scratches but I use my knife a ton. I didn't like the black coating at first but it does make a polished edge pop out. None of my scratches actually made it all the way to the sniny parts. So black scratches on black isn't bad.

I have a 1909 with a coffin handle in black burlap micarta! Good looking and really cool knife, but that Desert Ironwood burl is absolutely gorgeous! I'm surprised you're letting it go Rob! I wish I had the money to snag it myself even though I have one already. Desert Ironwood makes such a good looking knife handle!

Just as a heads up, the 1/7th number isn't federal government, that number applies to federal, state, and local. It's ~1.8% in federal, 3-4% state, and 10-12% local. Local government includes public school teachers, law enforcement, and public services provided by cities and counties. Collectively, that's around 14.8 to 17.8%, or somewhere around 1/7.

I own 3 Bark River Knives and love all three. Quality never has been an issue for me with any of their knives. In fact all three I’ve purchased are perfection in my opinion. I plan to buy another knife from them again soon. I just wanted to put my personal experience out there.

Maxamet is great. I like it and use it almost daily. I apply about a 14°ps apex micro bevel (truly micro) on a blade I reground with a very shallow convex bevel that basically just blends the flat down to the apex to thin out the behind the edge thickness. With a thin behind the edge thickness the apex degrees is almost irrelevant. I do this on all blades regardless of steel as I find factory bevels far far too obtuse. I polish the bevel to # 8000 and apex at # 600. Takes about 15 minutes on Atoma/DMT. I’m even considering making a small fixed blade with Maxamet. Edit: Like all factory ground bevels, it was subpar, brittle, and micro chipped frequently. After it’s been de-stressed and sharpened a few times it’s fine. Never had it chip after I done this but I wasn’t at all impressed with the factory edge. Just another reason why knife grinding needs to be cooled/flooded.

I don't think much "reconciliation" is in the cards, Rob, half of voters don't want a dishonest, unethical, self-aggrandizing president who doesn't respect the Constitution the way most Americans do. However, I do think a *deeper understanding of the people who elected Trump a second time* is in order. Us bedwetting liberals need to more fully grasp what the rest of the country is saying and wanting, have to come to terms with working citizens some of whom are raising large families & struggling, and without doubt must better secure the border (something most Dems actually want). If we can come together on those things we may be able to have a functioning nation with less strife. So here's hoping for that. Better candidates would also be helpful (Josh Shapiro 2028). Cheers.

Yes, we need to return to civility and being able to express our opinions in a respectful manner without fear of verbal/physical attack, being shamed/cancelled, being audited by the IRS, etc. Yes, I really hope Trump continues to "Drain the Swamp"! I'm so full of joy today that Trump/Vance won, and the Republicans won the Senate and most likely will win the House! I really feel this was a CRUCIAL ELECTION TO BRING AMERICA BACK FROM THE BRINK OF DESTRUCTION! It was a "Kairos Moment" that America absolutely needed at this point in time. I shudder to think of what would have happened if we had another 4 years of insanity with the far left in control! I'm also very encouraged to see that it was such a substantial win across the board, and that Trump even gained voters with Blacks, Hispanics, Younger People, etc. I feel this could really signal a shift in the USA away from the far-left "woke" (socialist) agenda. It is my hope that the Democrat party will come back to the middle and stop listening to the extreme elements in their party (AOC, the "Squad", Bernie Sanders, etc.). That is a pathway that is bad for all Americans of all political opinions. Ultimately, I thank God for his help and intervention in this election. The enemy is trying to do everything he can to bring down the hope, freedom, and light that the USA and our constitution shines on the entire world! Praise God - He has already defeated the enemy!
