Interesting. Back in the day I use to take my white dog and place JD smoke chips they make from old whiskey barrels and add them to a quart mason jar and place it into the microwave and nuke it till bubbles started to form this is just below the boiling point, then remove it, place the lid and ring on the jar which will create a vacuum and you can see the tannins pull from the wood chips. Next I placed the jar in the freezer for 24 hours and most whiskey snobs couldn't distinguish a proper aged whiskey from my express aged raw white dog. Keep learning till the day you die! Nice job brother!

Hi, Great videos teaching us so much. I have done seething similar with a cheap action cam but I changed the lens for a vari-focal lens with manual focus and zoom so 6-22mm the thread I think are M12 or 1/2inch. keep the videos coming, Thanks

Wouldn't it be better to have the lid hinge on the side, so if you have it wall mounted you can actually open it unimpeded?

Maybe reverse joins in pipe? So water will not enter to the feed seeds if it will be rainy

General comment, do a test fit of your M5 nut (or measure and check the model) before printing several off; the impressions are oversized for the nuts I have so it's hard to get them tight. The side effect of this for me is that water is able to seep into the feeder during heavy rain. If you can put the feeder somewhere it's not going to get rained on, obviously this isn't a problem.

I wonder why the HEPA filter isn't used as a prefilter on the commercial ones. Seems like a good way to go to me. I also wonder if the original fan would have worked if there were more HEPA prefilters to reduce the resistance. (ps. I've been watching hoochos for ages. I didn't realise you had this channel too! nice work mate.)

Nice point.. in build.. oh you need cad a 3d printer and other stuff. Crap..ive run alphacam microvellum and all sorts of equipment. Man you just blew any budget the average myco grower. Plus you haven't acheived laminar. Jeez you had me at first glance, but I'm a woodworker as well. You gotta be careful when telling people on diy. You're way way over budget than a store bought one. Might work for plant tissue but myc. Uggg

Word to the wise - most if not all of the vacuum and AC "HEPA filters" are not actually the medical grade filters you're in need of for this to work correctly. Is it better than nothing? You bet. Is it going to give you 70% + success rate? No bet. You'd almost be just as well off with a standing flame from an alcohol lamp as with this setup and it's a LOT cheaper. (Notice how I said "almost" there?) 65% success rate for $250 or 55% success rate for $25.

Ultrasonic Cleaners cleates cavitations bubbles to work - these bubbles implode in the tank sending out shock waves which heat up the liquid. If you look carefully you can sometimes see the flashes of these implosions through the liquid.

As an experienced beer brewer using Grainfather I have tried all sorts of ginger beer recipes. Personally I see many flaws in this especially on allowing oxygen into the brew but wondering why you wouldn’t put the citric and sugar into the fermentation vessel or leave some sugar in the fermentation… was there too much yeast considering fermentation with the ginger creates more yeast… hmmm

How about adding a small amount of tumeric and lemongrass and substitute 10% of the ginger for galangal (something else to grow). Galangal, tumeric and, to some extent, ginger have some pretty awesome potential health benefits that could help with the after effects of drinking at bit too much of the GG juice.

Cool idea Hoocho, take this as good faith critique: notice they are knocking food out onto the ground. Expect that behavior to develop into problems. The whole purpose of that sheath through which they stick their heads isn’t just weather protection. You need to include a deeper channel to the inside which forces them to have to go inside entirely to eat with a negative slope and a lip to stop them from pulling the feed out.

I see it in a lot of ways, I'd mostly use it with normal/cheap spiced rhum to make them my taste and better/sweeter tasting to appreciate it with mates, people i invite over etc.. just chilling, sipping etc.. But if you like getting tipsy, it can be expensive doing that every other friday night. So you could get a good but cheap white rhum as a base, do your own arrangement. Either vanilla, honey, orange peel or only charred wood barrel chips. And enjoy your multiple shots way more than straight puke memory flavored white rhum xDDD Even just to elevate your cocktails, instead of doing a mojito with white rhum, elevate it by infusing honey and vanilla, then use it for your mojitos. In the incoming months ill try that, really really curious to how it'll go ! Also if people could try : pressurized + ultrasound aging at the same time with a dual purpose DIY machine I'd be soooo curious about the result. Like a pressure chamber but with an ultrasound cleaner base

Fantastic! You can brew it a lot more dry, the very low end of sugar, if you plan it as a cocktail mixer. I've made it in a much smaller batch, and sweetened it in the glass with simple and a squeeze of tangerine to compliment the belt of local whiskey.

Awesome design, even better was how everything fit together! But you do know that not everyone has a 3D printer right. It would have been nice to have a link of aftermarket parts or a material list from a manufacturer to source collars or adapters from. Anyway great job!

Very informative. Watching you receive that filter that was a few inches shy of fitting up against the top of the cabinet, I wonder if that top "flange"/"strip" would then cause outside air to come in along the top of the cabinet and mix with your filtered air. So, looking in retrospect, would you adjust the height of the cabinet, and make the height lower so that it fits that filter exactly?
