in the panov I like taking on c4 at some point and ensuring that they cant push the d4 pawn to d5 and just targeting the isolated pawn, it is very fun to platy against it.

At 1:48 I think black has at least equalized. e3 is probably the best response, but then black gets to trade queens and win a tempo. I think white needs to play e3 earlier, but I am not sure. exd5 is definately wrong as f4 looks just silly - white would basically want to play the pawn back to f2. At 3:23 d4 seems like a positional mistake. This happens also often in the black pieces at Classical Dutch. I would strongly recommend playing Nb2, which is difficult move to find. The idea is that c4 square is weak, and white knight wants to get there. In the long run, white plays Nd2-Nc4. Before that white could try to clamp the queen-side pawns with a5 at a favorable moment. This leads to really comfortable position for white, with a squeeze. At 3:49 even if the computer says it is close equal, I think black is a lot better. White king can never find safety. There is no plan for white, and black can force white to lose the bishop pair. In this position it does not matter that black is lacking development. Black's development is easy and the pawn structure is great.

1400 is honestly such a weird elo. Half the time the opponents blunder pieces straight up, the other half i am the idiot that blunders a full piece, yet nobod ever resigns
@ApexChesssКүн бұрын
Absolutely nothing wrong with not resigning at 1400. In fact, if you resign at 1400 then you are missing out on a lot of skills. The ability to fight from a losing position is huge and at 1400 the possibility of the opponent blundering back is huge
@ApexChesssКүн бұрын
You should focus on the games that you're losing and why. It may seem like everyone is playing so strong but there's a reason you are losing. Maybe you aren't capitalizing on your opponents mistakes as much as you should, maybe you're blundering and making the game too easy for them, maybe your openings aren't where they need to be, maybe you don't know your opening ideas well enough. Maybe you keep trading into losing endgames when you could have held a draw if not trading. Find out why you're losing and then you'll improve

2. Qe2 in French gets most French players out of their game and works statistically well at all levels. Follow with a king's indian setup in many lines

@@ApexChesss I can understand that, though in my experience played against the french like this, most of the time you get both queens in the middle of the board and play a rather tactical open game, that does not feel very much like a typical king's indian game.

Well there's always gonna be a bunch of different responses no matter what you play hahahah. Chess is complex. I play the Vienna and the Vienna gambit is super good at lower levels so Id recommend that by just assuming that you're a bit lower. But even then you need to know different responses
