I served in the Royal army veterans corp and was good friends with Stan. only 2 Geordies in the regiment. wis I could talk to him,

England captain why? Varsity man and a good chap. Never mind he had a Test av. of 31 after 50 Tests as a specialist batsman. Remember there was still a Gentleman v Players match in the 60s!
