Me want to make a Humidifier using the water coming off the furnace, I was thinking of making a samp cooler set up. Using the return air for sucking the air across this pad (small set up) my question for Mango is I'm worried about the water is it acidic or have some kind of impurity's? What Mango thinks? Also, I can see that it will need to take care of the excess water but no problem have sump pump set up already.
@mongofix
@mongofix 4 күн бұрын
Mongo like this idea and concept. not sure on the PH gut says the water will have contaminants of combustion and any potential corrosion remnants, so probably more on the acidic scale. Other thing will be if holding the water will need to be careful about bacteria growth. If system designed right may not be problem but something to consider. Be sure let Mongo know cause you have Mongo interested now!

but whats the dust all over your shop like?
@mongofix
@mongofix 4 күн бұрын
Good question. Mongo runs this one in the basement. Unfortunately Mongo has been using this since moved into the house so no idea what it would normally look like. Guarantee there is LESS dust because this is collecting some of it. how much tho... no idea cause no comparison. There is still dust because the area is not sealed nor designed in a way to recycle the air in the space.

Mongo on the old motor for this model you are saying the blue was not used even though it shows the schematic on the motor? For that reason you say on the new motor install the blue again is not used so cut/cap it off? If it was not used on this model was it connected to the old motor, just not energize? Thank you for the clarification!
@mongofix
@mongofix 15 күн бұрын
Mongo think understand and try to answer. The old motor "Blue OR WHITE" is named as the LINE (power into the motor) and white was the color wire on the motor (no blue color wire on the old motor). The new motor has capability for 3 speeds. One of which has a blue wire color available. Per the schematic of the new motor the blue color was for medium speed. The furnace was only set up for 1 speed, high. Mongo wanted it to be the same as old chose to not wire up the other speeds. That is why Mongo did not connect the Blue wire of the new motor. Hopfully that answer question but let Mongo know! Mongo Thank You!

arent you supposed to not miss matcth battery brands or is that just a way battery companies generate more profits for themselves ?
@mongofix
@mongofix 18 күн бұрын
Technically you are correct... on both! But AA and AAA batteries are supper junky and very poor quality control so they all basically the same. There are differences but they are very negligible.

@@mongofix do the batteries react with aluminum in the case of the flashlight and prematurly swell up ?
@mongofix
@mongofix 11 күн бұрын
Not the battery itself but the leaking acid causes aluminum to corrode. Most the battery cases are made of aluminum and the corrosion causes the swelling of the battery, which causes the battery to be seized inside a flashlight tube. its sad that a Really nice flashlight can be destroyed by a leaking AA battery.

I have done cylinder heads on a few 2.5's. Did this while a student in uni. Did the last one on '98 in 2012 for a Friend whole let us stay for a couple months when we returned from overseas. The manual states that you can do this under hood, but i have always pulled the engine. Junk car, but paid the bills when I was a student.

I like your videos, but the arrows on the camshaft sprockets are used only for setting the valve lash on the intake and exhaust valves (the arrows point to 12 oclock, 3 oclock, 6 oclock, and 9 oclock to get top dead center for pistons 1, 3, 2, 4 repectively.) There are notches on the outer rim of the camshaft sprockets that are used for alignment of the camshafts when installing the timing belt, and are not in the same location as the arrows. The timing belt alignment marks are shown clearly here, between 10:30 and 11:00: kzbin.info/www/bejne/paTFnWiDq6Z3fJI Thanks -

Mongo thank you and Mongo appreciate the detailed feedback. Subaru engines, as you pry know have many different layouts and options through the years. This engine model, year and style has 2 sets of marks on the cam and crank. Arrows or small notches. (crank has a rectangle instead of a notch) If you set the timing one way and spin the crank to the other set of marks, they will also be aligned. For this style Mongo uses the arrows because they are much easier to see. You are correct that it is best to always use the small notches (best practice), especially on an interference engine. The biggest fail of a Subaru engine is having 2 sets of marks on the gears/sprockets, because it creates so much un needed confusion. Mongo probably should have explained all of this in the video.

For those types of wheels go to your local auto parts store and get a gallon of aluminum brigjtner for about $15. Dilute it 2:1 with water. Let set until the whole wheel has formed up. About 20 seconds. Then you rinse it off.

That part was shown on the video when removing the engine from the mower. The crank pully is keyed so it should slide right off. If it does NOT it way get tricky. May need heat, oil, ice, puller, prybar. all depends on the situation. Might just be stuck, might have a sheared key. Mongo always puts some anti-seize on the shaft and key to keep the pully from sticking.

@@mongofix all the above had to be done, even welding grinding and a few other things ending in "ing".Put up a real fight.Believe it or not once I got the cover off there was no oil pump shaft to be found.Appears as tho in manufacture it wasn't installed, for this motor has never been apart til now.Have you ever seen a sump without a functioning oil pump? Clearly its run without the shaft for close to 20 yrs now.I order one to install since it doesn't have one.Thanks for the reply
