I still don't understand how Malachi had those powers. He seems like a basic mutant bird, not like April. I guess when the storyboard artists drew him, they didn't think that far ahead. I have thought of a better origin story for him: As we know, the Kraang had being experimenting on humans for hundreds of years. So, he could have been one of their test subjects who managed to escape. And that the experiments the Kraang did on him gave him powers.
