It was my favorite stretch of the river till “ Douglaston” outsmarted the state of N.Y. Why do you call it “the barrel” ? I think it is a lot easier to fish now compared to when I first fished it.

So you bought the dsr pass or season ticket holder? Its really too bad the dsr has moved they line so far upstream. I think it was '08 or '09. They try every year paint rocks even with gray to erase the original line then repaint orange and then throw 5g pail of cement with T posts to add signange. Then the dsr cardboard cops interrupt the experience. Constantly questioning conduct/ethics of a put and take fishery which liscence holders support. Seems the upper portion, really Barclay, doesn't own both sides. They claim they patrol for actual property/home owners. Really a scam set up by cliff side owners who knew when they chose where to live. I cant believe pass holders fish the line. Far better water to fish downstream for the next 175 yards easy. I usually ask the patroller to take my photo and unhook my fish. That keeps them busy/entertained. 8lb leader wastes everyones time, including the fish. The swinging floss technique, is very epic in this spot. Thats why that guy low holing you is annoyed. Lol i love salmon season! I did feel this year was light on the number of fish. Although the steelhead have arrived nicely recently! Tight lines, brother! This spot has many names locally "Marks Roller" and more recently "The Kiddy Pool" Come on, Luke, Wtf lol

Oh it definitely was not like this further upstream later that day. There was a guy fishing in the hole I usually go to that had a size 2 or 1 split shot on his flyline thing was massive. I started with size 5 split shot went to then upgraded to size 3 and eventually added a size 4 water kept increasing in depth and speed my trip had a few days of rain. This was 1st year that I had to move out of way for fish coming down too. Never happens in this spot. What was that screaming in the background? You know I was telling someone this trip I’ve never caught a coho entire time I’ve gone up there! If you ever see a 5’6” guy with long dark brown hair and big burly beard in Pulaski 2nd or 3rd week October around town that could be me I’m usually with my oldest son. Definitely can’t wait for next video because compared to the other fishing KZbin channels I know yours is mostly mountain biking in northern New York these others thumbnail is gloating with their fish but not you and you talk exact same way I do while fishing hell I talk that way while not fishing too. Most time fishing non DSR this year hit or miss 2 here or 4 there last year so many couldn’t keep my hook out of them and if it wasn’t for lodge I stay at I would’ve been there this week not 7th to 11th even got there day and a half early.

I come out from CO to fish The Salmon every year. Never been on a river with so much junk in the river, assorted trash, discarded mono, weights, beer cans, ect. Also, not much regulation = snaggers and egg strippers roaming free. An amazing fishery that needs a little more respect.
