Obviously I haven't watched the video yet but adding 'let us not forget the struggles those developers and their families are going through every single day' to the description seems like you want me to lower my standards based on something that has nothing to do with the game already. Also I doubt 'modding' is going to be a thing otherwise I could just change a single line in an .ini file or a hex value in a .dll and unlock all the Day 1 pre-order deluxe content. Something tells me GSC don't want me doing that so I very much doubt it's going to be open and moddable like they claim. If that's not true I wonder what else they claim is not true.

I can’t answer the extent of modding or pvp as neither are in the title yet, but it successfully captures the feelings of the original. What shortcomings come in the story’s pacing and some dated quest lines quickly evaporate with environmental exploration and storytelling unlike anything else on the market. I mainly call out the devs cause this is such a powerful story with how they found a way to make this game. Regardless of views on the intervention over in the eastern part of the world. Ayyyy I played without UI elements too! Button interactions, traversals, and tips all disabled, and the low-health vignette. It's been fantastic! There's a few things I've clearly missed (watching other people play), but ultimately that's because I genuinely didn't notice them. I think for my second play through I'm going to run on Hard Puzzle, and turn the button prompts back on so I can catch things I missed. Bloober did an excellent job making the game *playable* without button prompts and such. The Medium had it as an option, but due to that game's design, it was very cumbersome. In that game, there were three different buttons you'd need to press based on context, and most importantly, interactable things were generally blended into the environment to look more natural, since the game relies on people having button prompts turned on. In Bloober's Silent Hill 2, the interactables stand out a tiny bit from the environment - bullet boxes are a bit brighter, keys have contrast, puzzles are generally very obvious, etc. The only time I really struggled to figure out what to do was the room with the golden apple cabinet, where you have to push the cabinet to the side so you can slip behind it. If the cabinet had one of those trademark white cloth markers, I think it would have been easier for me to notice.

It truly feels like the way the game was meant to be played. That level of immersion keeps you grounded and focused on the atmosphere. Even the combat with the way the camera positions itself it always draws your attention to the atmospheric tension in the level. Bloober team knew what mattered most here, and you can tell how much care and love went into the game. Even in small details most players won’t pick up on!

@@alexh2790 I do like the original encounter! Even though this new one also works since James now finds the radio on the same chair as the end. My only gripe with the remake (and it’s small) is the heavily incentivized combat. In the Og you could do runs where you kill maybe a dozen enemies. My first play through I ended up killing nearly 200. The combat is fun but not having the number of enemies you kill influence the ending feels like a strange omission. @@hotman8235 here’s a good trick for you. Always play reactive. Nurses always play the center of a map which the mannequins always go to the sides. The smog creatures that spit acid are less aggressive nurses. When fighting always dodge once for non nurse enemies but three times for a nurse. Return with three swings from your melee and never more no matter how weak the enemy looks. The blood splatter on them looks cool but this also serves as a nice visual aid to tell you how close they are to being defeated. You can also shoot enemies twice in the leg to stager them run up swing and knock them over. This makes them get stun locked by your dead space stomp attack. These tips should make it significantly easier for you and your stay at this beautiful tourist attraction. :)

It's literally just Homecoming with a different coat of paint. Even the last boss is basically the same! Not only does this "transcend" the original, but it continues Bloober Team's proud tradition of borderline plagiarism. The original didn't exactly set a high bar, either. Fewer weapons (even including New Games Plus weapons), fewer and much less threatening enemies, so much ammo that it trivializes combat, a much more boring otherworld. Yet everyone praises it because there's a plot twist and pointing out the obvious symbolism makes them feel like intellectuals.
