It's still complicated for me I have learned that if I am taking 400g of master batch I should take 15% of lye that will be 60g and 60g water .. is this correct

You’re only doubling it because it is two lbs correct? If it was three lbs, then you would triple the lye number - and then for the remaining water, you would still subtract the water amount (not tripled or tripled?) from the tripled lye number?

Do you find dust (and/or pet hair) to a problem during cure time? Also wondering what the room temperature should ideally be during the curing process...? My bedroom is 52ºF in the winter (and dry) but the rest of the house is more like 72º however no pets go in my room and it's the place of least disturbance! Thanks!

I was getting so confused by people using odd numbers and bizarre ways to masterbatch at a certain concentration. This was the perfect description on the process that I needed. Thank you ♥️
@soakitinartisansoap2 жыл бұрын
Although I realize this is an older video, I felt the need to clarify a few things regarding this video. Curing is 1) saponification, 2) water evaporation, and 3) crystallization. ALL three phases are required to have a cured soap. Your video only emphasizes phase 2. Phase 3 is the restructuring of the soap, which makes the soap last longer than an under cured soap. No method, man-made or otherwise, speeds up the cure process. Dehumidifyer promotes warping and should be avoided as it does not speed up curing. Nothing speeds up the cure process. Now you can use your soaps after the saponification phase, but it is not recommended because it is a softer soap, can become soft and mushy, and dissolves faster. Definitely not a quality soap compared to a fully cured soap. How do you achieve a fully cured soap? Weight your soap each week until it lo longer looses weight. That duration is the cure time for that particular formulation. Be sure to place your soaps on a well ventilated area with 4 sides of air flow. This helps the soap from warping and even cure. Soapmaking is a science first, then an art. Learning the fundamentals is paramont, especially if selling to the public. Teaching new learners incorrect methods only hurts the soapmaking industry as a whole. I'm the US we don't have riged regulations like the UK but if misinformation resulting in selling poor quality soaps is continued we will end up being restricted and it will cost a fortune for one formulation to be approved. Please keep that in mind when teaching others. Research is paramont.

If there are a few not totally dry will they finish drying naturally ?
@inaturalbodybysoniabdorsey48093 жыл бұрын
Yes they do. Just make sure the dampness is minimal. One thing I have learned is to do this on a day where you are prepping your products for a future project or are replenishing your stock so that those not so dried petals can get a little more dry time. If this is not possible, use those that have not dried out (which should be few) to create a satchel (epsom salts, petals, & fragrance in a pouch like fabric…tie it off) for your (or a loved one’s) well deserved evening hot bath for the night….these petals do not need to be discarded ….just repurposed. I hope this helps. Enjoy!

With this 50:50 lye water ratio, what quantity of oil will be OK to produce with this solution
@inaturalbodybysoniabdorsey48093 жыл бұрын
Hi Kadijah! It depends different factors. 1st your soap mold. How many ounces of soap can your mold make? One you have that amount in ounces, you can formulate your recipe. In this video, the sample recipe is for 1 pound or 16 ounces of soap. I use Soap Calc to build recipes. It’s a free online soaping calculator. But first you will want to know how many ounces your molds will hold and then work from there….let me know if this helps. There’s a video on the channel that shows you how to do just this….it will help, take a look.

Please show how to use the 4.54 once you come up with that amount. How do you pour ( measure) it for use in your recipe? Do you just measure 4.54 of your 50/50 water/lye solution and then measure 2.34 of your remaining liquid?

Also, large cans from food can be transformed into gorgeous containers to put your tools in with some fabric, mod page and paint a can can become a work of art. I love to see others who reuse, reduce, recycle and see that double duty saves money too.you rock!!!
