Proportions are a matter of personal taste, exactly how everyone makes their coffee. Its your choice if you want it strong or weak, sweet or not. FFS

Almost perfect ha, see how she had a lump of brown sugar when she poured the coffee... The trick is after you pour the sugar into the glass, add a dash of boiled water to start melting it, then then shot of whiskey and mix, BEFORE pouring the coffee... The rest of the steps are correct and also if the cream is already whipped, leave in the fridge until needed to it sets on top

@arnarne you're not diluting it, it's literally like a splash of boiling water to mix the sugar haha 🤣, it basically becomes sugar syrup. At best, it is probably diluting it from 40% to 38%, it's not noticeable, it's how to make the Irish coffee look like an Irish coffee and not have lumps in it.

@@nevermind4679 if you were making like 10 Irish coffees then yeah maybe add 10 spoons of sugar and 10 splashes of water, but it's much of a muchness, because there's no milk in the coffee you need the brown sugar syrup before the whiskey to offset the bitter coffee. I have made many Irish coffees and am from Dublin, it's not as complicated as it looks if you're prepared with cream already whipped in the fridge and the sugar melted in the already boiling glass, that's half the battle.

That's why almost every "posh" hotel in Ireland looks like a hospitality management school. If you visit one, you visit all. They all look the same: British colonist's mansion + French modern cooking (materials sourced locally) + Golf club. Formulaic and modular with little respect for the rich Irish history and personality of culture. People with such "qualification" run hotel like taking orders from their lovely mammies. Insipid.

Hahahah. This is why hotels and services in Irish hospitality all look similar to each other. English rooms + French food. Banal. Lackluster. Lack of passion but full of correctness. You visit one and you visit all.

why would anyone want to work in a hotel anyway because of the crap pay, little or no breaks because they are constantly understaffed just to save money, the working hours most of the time are illegal but they still get away with it, staff dont get extra for working sundays or bank holidays, you have bosses constantly watching you on camera even when they are at home, i heard of a case recently in kilkenny where a manager was at home in his own house when he phoned the duty manager to say there was a man standing at reception to check in but there was nobody on reception, the girl went to the toilet which was only for a minute or so, she had nobody to cover her as they were understaffed plus it was a late check in so there wouldnt have been 2 people on reception, plus another occacasion a supervisor got a txt from the manager who was also at home watching cameras telling her that table number 4 was ready to order for over 6 minutes could she take care of it straight away , this is constant harrassment, the whole industry need propper legal rights for staff, plus a union dedicated to hotel workers who can make a complaint without been picked on or sacked, its the management thats the big problem in this industry thats why they cant get staff, its now 2022 and its still going on,

A Shot in Ireland is a standard spirt measurement of 1/4 Gill or 1.2 Oz / 35.5 ml. There is also a benefit of heating the spoon so the cream slides of better and less likely to mix especially if the cream is cold from the fridge.
