I have got the same issue. The car is at a nissan dealer now. It does ok in town has a little slip. But when get on highway and get up to about 65 or 70 for a few minutes starts losing all power. I have topped a hill at 5 mph. Dealer wants 6500 for new transmission old car not worth that to me. I will try this and a filter change hope it fixes it thank you for the advice.

Good video but not dumb enough. I don't know how whining noise sound. The hardest part of English or any other language is understanding how each noise sounds or how each type of the pain feels.

Thank you for this i have done my due diligence when a service engine soon light turned on on my car. I took it to an autozone got it tested and they said asked me if i had any jerking or smoothness issues with the transmission and i said no that the car was fine. I did an oil change at 75 ish thousand and bought the car used at just 74,900 ish and now at 77,900 ish i had a big problem. After the autozone visit the lady asked me those questions but didnt say anything like dont drive far or just to drive it home no warning and nothing about changing the transmission fluid. I didnt see the results of the test until my nearly an hour drive later to a friends house and my car bucked forward after i hit the gas at a stop light turn green and then bucked more after it maintained the power turning left and then it wasn’t getting acceleration much at all when i tried it to use the gas. So i had to pull over to the shoulder. I put 1 quart of cvt fluid in the car and it moved forward a bit after i let go of the brake pedal in gear but after i had to stop to let traffic pass and then let go the car wasnt moving and i tried the gas and it just revved the engine so i chose to shut the car off again. And when i checked the transmission fluid it was very low.

how long does ur fluid last after replace? And how long can you ride your car without hearing the noise? I work doing DoorDash and sometimes I do 8 hour shifts driving straight. The car took it like a beast last shift (I just bought the car ) but at the last hour it started doing the noise. So I guess the other owner did not replace the fluid before selling the car.. can you please tell me how long does ur fluid last (months/miles) before having to replace again? How long can you drive without hearing this noise and does it affect the performance of the car at all?

That's not true... the writing goes to the positive, which is the black, and the one without writing connects to white, which is neutral. People be aware of the advice. Don't take my word or his. Although I am right, research the information. People know your facts.

Tons of mechanics out there. Not all good. Ask around and find yourself a good experienced mechanic. The amount of fluid put in has to be perfect, can’t be under or over or it won’t work properly.

Hello Jason, I have a nissan versa 2009 1.8 with a whining sound in the transmission. I changed the transmission cartridge filter and the transmission fluid and nothing changed. There was a code of P0868 ( low fluid pressure) once I changed the transmission fluid and the trnasmission cartridge filter the code is gone and there is not any metal fragments thanks god and the transmission is shifting well. What do you recommend or how to get rid of that whinning sound ? Please I need your advice. Thank you

I brought my own. Has to be specifically Nissan transmission fluid. Other people say they used different ones and it worked. Maybe it did for them and that’s great. But I know what worked well for me and that was to bring the transmission fluid sold directly for CVT from Nissan.

I was hesitant to replace the fluid again on my 2008 Sentra because it has only been 25k miles since I last replaced it with Nissan NS-2. Well I replaced it and it completely fixed the whine. I am so relieved that I don't have to go look for a replacement transmission. This time I went with Redline CVT fluid. I was kind of desperate. Time will tell how the redline affects the longevity. I suspect the Nissan NS-2 fluid is thin for fuel efficiency goals, but that only a suspicion of mine.

I have huge exact same issues with my 2016 Nissan Sentra, and ever time I've been that is a transmission and needs to be replaced cost $3-4k more than 3 places I've went hoping they'll give me an alternative other than that huge expensive repair. So I've been driving it like that just short distances in town etc but not for more than an hour. I'll try the transmission oil and see what happens!:)

This may sound weird, but I was amazed how well it worked for me. Check the coolant concentration and make sure it’s not more than 50% ethylene glycol. This step alone greatly reduced the wine I had on my 2008 Sentra. To fix I just removed coolant with a turkey baster and added pure water. My coolant did have more ethylene glycol than it should.

When your going uphill , gravity will slow you down, even when you have the cruise control on. It’s normal and logical. I drove semi for 26 years and every hill does that regardless of the grade.

I changed my transmission fluid today on my gf Nissan Rogue 09, 180k miles and prob the first drain and fill. Took out 5360gs from the drain plug, dropped the pan & cleaned the magnets & replaced the filter. I filled up what I took out & took out even more out of the oil cooler until it ran fresh transmission fluid. I used Castro cvt and put in a little less than 3 gallons of fluid (some came out from the oil cooler when flushing/draining). It definitely goes into gear better but the whining is just as loud. It quiets down on the highway when taking a left or right turn but as soon as wheel goes straight it’s back to a loud drone almost like an exhaust leak. It did this before the drain and fill and after. Any ideas? Also changed spark plugs and cleaned pcv valve.
