Great video thanks so much! I have a ASUS GT-AC5300 that was working great until latest firmware update to 3.0.0.4.386_51569 now whether hardwired or on WiFi the connections are intermittently dropping. I had my service provider test connection at modem and all is good there. Should I go back to a previous firmware?

I can't use this gaming router on my fiber optics internet because my ISP doesn't allow me to enable bridge mode on their router so I'm using the Exitlag which did wonders for me. I have low ping and no packet loss in games but enemies are seeing way before me and shooting me in the head before they even appear on my screen when I don't use Exitlag but with exitlag enemies are sitting duck for me now I'm just fragging kids in valorant I'm using 540hz monitor and my average response time is 155ms so I noticed the difference immediately.

The main question is. Is it better than asus be98 pro? I know that quad band is better then tri band. But with the AI is better. And if it is, i can still return it to the store and wait and upgrade to the new model

My opinion is the BE98 Pro is already way advance for majority of homes/users. The BE98 already has most of the features with GPN, AI Protection, 10Gbe networking. So unless you really see the AI features an advantage in your setup I would be extremely happy with the BE98 Pro and will last for many years going forward.

Mine looks nothing like this there is no ai settings or any of the others I see listed on left side of your screen. What I do know is I not spending another 6 hrs banging my head against a wall. Asus doesn’t even list a help section for my router, so now I’m wi deri g how old of a router I spent this 200.00 on. Extremely frudtrate$ , and I can’t even trust anything about this just to take break on the ps5. No iPads,no phones, no tvs no ps5 or 4 yeah…. Why did I do this…

I am hoping with a NPU built-in to the router it will handle all the AI on device and in your private home network. But will have to see when more details come out.

Hi, I'm using Asus RT-AX56U with a firmware 3004.388.8_4. Strangely, I have been recently watching several similar videos but I cannot force it to share my hard drive. All setting on, but I cannot see a share in Windows 11 (I have enabled older protocols on my test machine) , Linux , phone and a audio network streamer. Has anyone got similar issue? Any ides what can be done to resolve it as I'm still quite happy with this router and don't want to buy a new one just to be able to share a hard drive?

Hello! Happy New Year! I have this very same router and I tried using Parental Controls, but it's not working properly. I only want to block one website, but the keyword filter is not working for that specific website. The only way the block works is if I click "Media" under Category Filter, but then that blocks the use of ALL media websites such as youtube for example. I think something is wrong with the software. Anyone else having the same issue? or is there a solution to this or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for such a detailed review! If you want to setup the mesh in ethernet backhaul mode, some mesh systems require you to connect the main router to the ISP modem via ethernet and the satellites need to be connected to the main mesh router. Is that the case with asus as well please? Or, can I connect both asus routers to a switch that is connected to the ISP modem and achieve ethernet backhaul mesh? Appreciate your feedback!

Love ASUS routers. They have so many features (probably overkill for most households). Just recently discovered dns over tls feature in my router and love how it keeps dns queries private from the isp. Out of all the routers i have owned of different brands ASUS is the best imo hands down. Great video as always!

The other model (MB390) is brighter. This one is 250 lumens x2 but you can never get both 250s aimed at the same place. The 400 lumens model does better when you want a certain place lit up

What infrastructure are you using cityfibre or Openreach fttp I am using Openreach and I didn't have to enable the vlan I had to disable it as it would not connect with it enabled think that is only requirement on City fibre one other thing you do not need to use PPPoE only ASUS router if you are using the Vodafone router and on the Asus router can set the WAN connection type to automatic IP and it will work would recommend restarting router both of them
@EclipseReviews
@EclipseReviews Ай бұрын
I am using City firbe so have to use the vlan option, but before I was using openreach and was more simple as did not need to worry about vlan setup on the asus router.

When doing Iot things, how do they communicate with each other when in separate bands with separate SSID? I feel so lost, I need everything to be able to communicate with each other
@EclipseReviews
@EclipseReviews Ай бұрын
When setting up the WiFi bands without MLO feature you can use Smart option which will combine all the WiFi band together under one SSID and the Asus router will choose where to put the IoT device. If setting up the band separate you can look for the option when you login to the router via Advanced Settings > Network, clicking on the network and toggle on the option 'Use same subnet as main Network' then IoT devices will be able to connect across the networks. (But these defeats the purpose of securly separating the IoT devices from the main network)

@Anonsbdofjrnwodb 27 күн бұрын

Great video, very detailed and informative. Like you, I separate ssids (i have 4 in the BE98) and have been wondering how an MLO band would help/change my set up. In a nutshell , turning ON MLO will disconnect all my devices until I go back and add the current 4 SSID as you outlined and it should be back to normal with extra MLO SSID ? MLO is only of benefit for WIFI 7 devices and could possibly complicate the connection of all my wifi4 and 5 devices through Smartconnect. Glad I saw this video , not really worth it at this point for me.
@EclipseReviews
@EclipseReviews Ай бұрын
Yes right now makes the setup of the router very complex and unless you have lots of WiFi 7 devices not benefit. But is good to test out :)

Basic question: How can I change the country of the VPN server if I have VPN running on the router? I have no option to select the country using the ASUS router app, am I right? Thanks a lot!
@EclipseReviews
@EclipseReviews Ай бұрын
The country is selected from your VPN provider when choosing the config file. So for NordVPN you choose the country and VPN protocol and then download the config file to upload to the router. I choose one for Europe and one for USA.

If your Router is Wi-Fi 7 but the server for OpenSpeedTest is using slow Connection isn't it kinda pointless? I got 1.8 Gbps while using Wi-Fi 6 everytime unlike your weird test here that has bottleneck somewhere on the connection

Surprising they’ve removed the Mac Filtering on the new white hub. That was a basic customer requirement to restrict a device on the local network & was used more as a parental control by many clients. Absolutely crazy
