Fun fact...at the 52 second mark you can see the red bean hill sign, if you look at it carefully you can see where it was broken. my fellow public works lawn mower operator hit it by accident when it was only a few months old. luckily my fellow maintenance tech and i were able to repair it with some line-up pins and some jb weld. we matched the paint and set it back on. that was about 2 years ago now and it's still hanging in pretty well...

I bought a new camera on Ebay. Is there any trick I should know about how to get any photos or videos from my camera uploaded to my phone? The directions were trying to tell me to get the camera WiFi so I could share it to my phone's WiFi on that XDVD Pro, but, it didn't work for me.

Waiting for winter......

My mother used to get ground coffee at the A & P. I loved the smell of the coffee when it was being ground. So much fun. My first bank account as a teenager was at the Savings Society. How exciting to see my account grow with my part time job. The blue bank book. And the bank tube, that was always a bit of a mystery to me. Look at that I used to think.

Hey Tom - as a former resident (left in 2012 and planning to move back) your videos are appreciated, it's the next best thing to being back there and driving around. Did you ever do any drive-throughs of Willimantic, with the frogs on the bridge, etc?

Thanks for sharing this. It's sad. That former A&P Store looks like a ghost town. No one there. All of the business closed. Everyone was nice at the A&P store before it became Starr Wood. I remember in the early 1970's or late 1960's when A&P had wooden floors. I was at A&P more frequently in the 1990' and early 2000's. I don't know what happened. It's strange how everything closed there. We might not ever know.

I miss shopping there. The package store moved down the street next to the dollar general and gas station. There was a subway there too

I remember a couple of things from there. I remember when I was little, my sister's and I would sing "A and P in your pants!" Lol less than 10 years at the time 😂 I also remember the Chinese food restaurant nextdoor!! Best Chinese I ever had, at least when I was a kid. I remember whenever we'd go there, the cooks would always sing "row row row your boat" and my sister's and I would sing along with them. Sad to see how run down it is now ☹️ Norwich is so beautiful and historical. I can't wait to go back some day ❤

Thanks for making this video of the memorable A & P Grocery Store where my Mom and myself used to shop in the early 60s. We lived in an apartment in Greenville near Mr. Big. Just down the road across from the former outdoor drive in and golf driving range, now a bakery, my Mom had a minor automobile accident with me as a 6 year old passenger in our '57 blue Bel Air Chevrolet. I still have the newspaper article. I got a chipped front tooth and Mom was shaken up a bit bit not injured. After the police arrived and made a report on the accident we had to have the front end of our car repaired at a body shop just across the street from the A & P Grocery store. That garage still exists today!☺ Every time I drive by this former shopping plaza I can't help[ but remember that time in my life. My father who was in the U.S. Army was stationed in Germany and in a few months Mom and me would travel across the Atlantic Ocean by plane and live there until early 1964. God Bless you Tom for making these wonderful videos that bring back so many priceless memories. I will always be thankful for the walking tour video you made at the Mohegan Park Disc Golf course!. As a disc golf promoter I tell all disc golf wanna bees to check out that super You Tube. I am currently building a disc golf training course on 20 Simpson Lane in Montviille, CT. It is behind the new pickleball & tennis courts on a wood chip field. I got the ok from the Town Of Montville Parks and Recreation Dept. that I have been working with for 15 years. The three baskets are installed and a 4th will be added in the near future. I should be working on this Camp Oakdale training/skills challenge disc golf course into early December. Disc Golf can be enjoyed year round, even in the snowy and cold winter months. I'll be adding a course sign "PLAY DISC GOLF HERE" that the art students of my alma mata Montville High School made for me in 1995. You are welcome to stop by and check it out and I know you'll want to make a You Tube on not only the disc golf course progress, buy the great new pickleball & tennis courts and the adjoining Dog Park☺ where many people love to take their four legged friends. Tom, my man!! A genius idea...you only need to insert some audio to tell us old Norwich guys where you are and where these stations are!! And BTW, gas is about .50 cents cheaper here in Texas!! Of course that'll probably change when that idiot Trump gets back to the White House. Give Nora a big hug for me!!!

I was stationed on the Fulton. Had some good times on Bank St. The Sub Cafe, Ernie's, the Brass Rail and the Dolphin.

Norwich and it's citizens have definitely made the right decision and you've documented the validity of that decision for the history books. Even if it wasn't in it's current state of decay it would still be an eyesore. I expect the new owners of the marina are pleased.

What are they going to do with the empty space?

Always sad when demolition happens. I read Seaside will be demolished too? If so, if you get that way, a video of that would be appreciated before it is gone.

Drove right past where my uncle lived for 30 yrs. Grew up in that and Mystic area in the late 80s and 90s. Looking back it was a great time. Too bad you never notice the good things a town brings as a kid.

I moved to Florida 46 years ago and I wouldn't recognize any of these properties now

Nice video, Tom! A lot of history is on Prospect Street, including my family’s home, which is on the other end of Prospect.

that's a nice tunnel but if your looking to walk threw a longer tunnel that would be the Pequabuck Tunnel or Terryville Tunnel also knowing as the 1Mile Tunnel..it's really only .68 mile...you can see the light at the end of the Tunnel...but after a 100 yards in you can't see your own hand...I have ridden my dirt bike though there with no headlight...you should check it outat the end of the Tunnel...but after a 100 yards in you can't see your own hand...I have ridden my dirt bike though there with no headlight...you should check it out
