HIs logic is sound. Puts an extra stress on the learner - Now they're worried about trying to go against the priorities they've learned, while also not hesitating too long for the cars in line behind them

I’d say continue driving as normal and let the learner wait.

Apex Corner has always been a difficult roundabout for me however I am improving a lot because of it. Sorry to be a pain but I think at 9:00 there were amber lights for preparing to stop so you would've of gotten a minor/major for not stopping. Really enjoyed the video regardless and many thanks.
@1024sofia2 күн бұрын
not rly... amber means stop unless its unsafe to do so... u didn't see who was catching or following close behind and jumping on the brakes doing pretty much am emergency stop at amber with someone close behind is dangerous bc with them driving close to u with an attempt to bully u through the lights they wont be expecting u to stop. Its also a dash cam and u can see the lens is curved which distorts distance. U can see there was a silver van who was catching coming towards the 1st set of lights (key word catching, it was closing the distance and trying to make it through lights). There was even a range rover who attempted to turn left from lane 3 (queue jumping the traffic in lane 1) ... ppl are evidently very impatient at that roundabout (this is me saying that ppl r impatient here and like to make it through lights, someone jumping from lane 3 doesn't mean u go through on amber bc they don't affect u slowing in ur lane that much). I wouldn't be stopping at amber if i could see someone catching me behind. If no one is catching u and ur more than a car length from the stop line u would be expected to and should stop, if not then that's a mark

These days, cause I'm only part time. I rarely venture out of my local area which would be Bromley West Wickham and possibly Sevenoaks.While back went to Barnet and Mill Hill due pupil desperation that they couldn't get a test anyway I said never again I don't know the area stress getting there from SE London luckily pupil passed on 3rd attempt my favourite Westwickham. It pays to to know the area if possible.
@GetWheelDriving5 күн бұрын
100% understand that and it definitely helps to know the area. Hendon is a long way from seven oaks for sure!!

I have been 10 years experienced driver stalls to 1 year. It happens what is dangerous then. I have seen 100 times stalling other driver from stop nothing dangerous happened even nobody knew it stalled most of the cases. Is it potential drawback of manual . Why these is is not fixed
@GetWheelDriving5 күн бұрын
Yes recovering from stall quickly is the most important! And yes if you drive a manual stalls will happen from time to time!

That is definitely a stressful driving area, makes my local test centre route look so easy! I’d usually not drive in very busy areas but I have a friend who’s an experienced driver and they make me drive out of my comfort zone so I get the experience. I’ll be off out tomorrow on a busy and tricky route with many roundabouts where every one makes their own rules up!

@@GetWheelDriving I didn’t learn to drive until I was 50 so finding building my driving confidence is taking me time but I’m getting there. Know I’ll only increase my confidence by driving out of my comfort zone so that’s what I’m doing (with some support from a friend who’s husbands an instructor)

Does a sign board with arrows always apply to the next major traffic lights even if there are minor roads leading up to it just like in the video?
@GetWheelDriving8 күн бұрын
I’m not sure I’ve understood the question!
@LaPortiaBel8 күн бұрын
At 10:23 there's a junction sign just after a crossroads and Rummel was saying many learners confuse the sign for the crossroad instead of the crossroads after it. I thought it was the one for traffic signals but that was pedestrian crossing.
@GetWheelDriving8 күн бұрын
Ah I see. Remember signs are to warn and give information ahead of time. Very VERY unlikely to be for a junction that’s just on top of the sign and most certainly won’t be signed after the junction. And yes major road is also likely but not always. I hope that all makes sense.
@LaPortiaBel8 күн бұрын
@@GetWheelDriving Many thanks! Somehow I associated these signs for coming up to a traffic light junction.

I know an even easier method to use, it’s called the 6 poles hack, it works on any road with street lights, count 6 lampposts (whether down one side of the road or on both sides of the road), if it’s anything different than 30mph you will see a small repeater sign within 6 poles, if you don’t see any repeater signs within 6 lampposts then the speed limit is 30mph.

When I was on my test I accidentally signaled right to pull away after reverse on the right manoeuvre, I’d wondered why the examiner was craning his neck out of his window! As no other road users I just picked up a minor. The examiner was laughing with my instructor after saying that was the first time he’d ever seen a candidate do that! I’ve never made a signalling error since that.

When i had my test before leaving the test centre the examiner said at some point on route im going to raise my hand and you've to do.an emergency stop . He did have places in mind and did check it was safe .not that i knew for sure. As soon as he raised the hand i slammed on the brakes. Then as i had only just had the emergency stop on the lesson just before test it was fresh in my mind about blindspot. Im honestly not a fan of how its done now. I know how i did it was cruel , but too me an emergency is dealing with the unexpected.

@GetWheelDriving14 күн бұрын
Glad you like it!! Don’t have a complete answer for that really it’s just something that my car being a Ford focus does. Having taught in diesels for years I was surprised my petrol behaved the same way. It maybe something to do with the fuel efficiency of these small engine petrol cars, but that’s a guess. Sorry I couldn’t enlighten you more! 🙌
