Because of this Purushasuktha the Brahmins claimed that the castes in India were existing from the beginning. But this is a wrong interpretation. Rigveda 10.90.11 states: "When they (= the Devas = gods) appointed Purusha (= the cosmic man = Vishnu, in whom the universe is situated), into how many parts did they arrange him? ..." (Jamison and Brereton translation). And then in 10.90.12 follows the mention of the castes: "The Brahmin was his mouth. The Ruler (Rajanja instead of Kshatrya) was made his two arms. As to his thighs - that is what the freeman (= Vaishya) was. From his two feet the servant (= Shudra) was born." At first we can see from this, that this obviously hints to the time after the offering of Purusha, which was mentioned before in 10.90.6 - 7. The composition of Purusha therefore is the composition which the Devas gave Purusha after the offering of Vishnu and the Sadhya gods and Rishis (10.90.6 f.). (Which means they were no more a part of the zodiac; the further changes of the zodiac were mentioned in other hymns). This shows that this hapened after the takeover of power by the Devas from the Daityas which then were called Asuras. In the post vedic literature this is reported as the throwing of Bali into Patala. The ancient Greeks report the same as the throwing of Kronos into the Tartarus by Zeus and the greek historian Herodot (Histories 2,43) gives as the date of this event 17.500 BC. This is the date which the egyptian zodiac of Dendera shows (which was obviously produced much later), which still shows the 36 Sadhya gods. But back to the Rigveda: in 10.90.14 is stated, that the earth was developed from his two feet, which 10.90.12 connected with the Shudras. From that it is clear, that according to the Rigveda the humans as a whole were considered Shudras (= servants) by the Devas. That is also shown in Genesis 2, 15 in the Bible. That is the real meaning of the Purushasuktha.

Sir, while searching on youtube, your video surfaced. The video is awesome. Seeing you, everyone has a desire to recite Vedas like you. I have this desire too. Please recreate the video on Purush Sukta on my request. But in this video, you should slowly pronounce each swara of the Purush Sukta so that we can know how you have pronounced the udatt, anudadat and swarita vowels. I also have some knowledge of vowels, but there is a problem in the pitch of pronunciation. Please make a video again by reciting Purush Sukta slowly once again. This will be very beneficial for us. Thank you sir!

Om Im Indraya Namaha More than a fifth of all mantras in Rig veda is dedicated to Lord Indra Lord Indra controls the mind which governs all the Karmendriyas and Jnanendriyas i.e. organs of action & perception. By His worship we develop control of mind and gain the ability for correct knowledge based action. He helps us gain all round perfection. Note that Indra as described in Vedas is a benevolent devata and is very different from the later puranic descriptions. Thanks.

Sir are there different styles of chanting in vedas? Cuz I see in north India they chant vedas differently and in southern India, they also have a unique way of chanting. I personally like the south Indian Vedic chanting because I find them relaxing.
@RigvedaSamhita2 жыл бұрын
Yes there are different styles of chanting in the north and the south. Very happy to see that you like South Indian style as my style of chanting is completely south Indian 🙂. However, even in south India, there are 2 popular styles: one from the Sringeri mutt in Karnataka and other from the Kanchi mutt in Tamil Nadu. That's the reason in the description of each video, I always state the style of chanting that particular video adheres to.
