Dust at night because wind and temp are low and all the idiots are passed out or asleep

Why why why! Dust at night, looks Exreamly dangerous ain't it, the onboard flood lights don't seem to have a great deal of intensity an spread! An there was several instances where the pilot could of flow straight into power lines on this video an low lying obstacles, I know GPS an other significant avionics are a great help during night missions.. an no possibilities of bird strike like that of day light hours.. But honest why dust at the dead of night!!!..😂😦😲😲😞.

*BLACK * where I worked in central California it was due to the bees being out in the daytime and in at night. Don’t want to kill them. Never hit a wire at night - only in the daytime. Wires show up very good at night, especially when it’s dark / less glare.

Everything here is irrigated so the work is pretty reliable, We'll have a man on every job there's just too many field workers around even at night. Most of the fields and crops here can be sprayed at night. Thanks for watching!

Nice Video, We also do night work here in Australia. We haven't had a decent night season for the last 5-6 years, but are expecting one this year due to the hotter weather. We use radio activated marking lights as a reference to see the fields. We only mark out what fields are suitable enough for night work, and we only spray cotton at night.

I have heard that you can mark AB lines, then the C line, to map the field into the GPS, But can the field be mapped via ground equipment then loaded into the GPS?

@peterp696 GPS, the lights on the front are flashing because of a framerate issue with the camera, They are normally solid and indicate crosstrack and angle. This was recorded in the central part of California

I was watching them do this November 15 th 2011 in Wellton, AZ which is east of Yuma. I'm a pilot, but I wouldn't ever do this. That is some flying skill. At night, with 5 lights on the turbo prop aircraft, which I couldn't see...because it's night, was just really cool to watch.

My father used to do this kind of flights daily because of the constant high wind speed that we have had here in Argentina. But that was on the early 80's with a PA-25 (Piper Pawnee) without gps, or any satloc sistem that we can usually add to crop dusting planes nowadays.

@flingwing76 We stay under 60' on Fert, Any wider will start to streak in our area. Swath width is usually figured to make even or full passes since most of the fields here are square. Effective swath width usually gets narrower the lighter the material is like seed, Narrower of course when the rate/ac is high as well

@grant31781 , That was dry fertilizer, the farmers like the rain to melt it and go into the soil, The night flying visibility is much better than my cheap camera is capable of showing, Some enjoy the night flying, most don't though.

Will the spray stick to the crops in rain? I also saw your night dusting. How do you see where you are going? They don't spray in the rain or at night in Georgia.
