What strength of lights do you use to luminate the field and do you have a luminated instrument panel too? I think you must have many hours flying before you can do this, for this is seat of the pants flying and you do everything without thinking about it. Pity your Thrush have only one seat. Would like to feel this experience once.

too cool CN i used to work for tri air in firebaugh ca and took a few rides at mnite sitting on the right hand side of the cockpit in a 1820 viper thrush better then any rollercoster ride it the world

Nice Video, We also do night work here in Australia. We haven't had a decent night season for the last 5-6 years, but are expecting one this year due to the hotter weather. We use radio activated marking lights as a reference to see the fields. We only mark out what fields are suitable enough for night work, and we only spray cotton at night.

What sort of lighting are you using for paddock makers to help identify at night and how about some micheal jackson back ground music in you're next flick!

Never heard of spraying at night, must be too hot in the day
@cnagpilot15 жыл бұрын
Pretty hot, At night there's less field workers and Bee's aren't as much a problem either

It's all relative I guess. I didn't see your daytime videos, it is pretty flat out there and not a tree in sight. Are you in Canada? Just guessing from the CN...

I was watching them do this November 15 th 2011 in Wellton, AZ which is east of Yuma. I'm a pilot, but I wouldn't ever do this. That is some flying skill. At night, with 5 lights on the turbo prop aircraft, which I couldn't see...because it's night, was just really cool to watch.

Thanks We have turn lights but I rarely use them. We'll usually start late in the afternoon and fly until the work is done

My father used to do this kind of flights daily because of the constant high wind speed that we have had here in Argentina. But that was on the early 80's with a PA-25 (Piper Pawnee) without gps, or any satloc sistem that we can usually add to crop dusting planes nowadays.

That is intense. You have bigger balls than me, for whatever that's worth lol.

I've flown a lot of planes for a quite a few years and would love to get into ag aviation at some point. But not at night. Stones not big enough.

On a good night 3/4 mile, you can't really tell on the video
@thomaslittle58275 жыл бұрын
cnagpilot I used 600 watt quartz lights. One o each wing. And yes, wires showed up a good 3/4 miles away, plus excellent lateral vision. And the darker the better . Video doesn’t give you a real good perspective - probably the camera angle too low.

Hi, I was wondering if a crop duster at night has 6-8 lights on the front of it???? I saw something weird.
@rcf15683013 жыл бұрын
WOW what a skilled pilot. Would think there would be enough stress just doing that during the day not to mention at night.

Everything here is irrigated so the work is pretty reliable, We'll have a man on every job there's just too many field workers around even at night. Most of the fields and crops here can be sprayed at night. Thanks for watching!

Why why why! Dust at night, looks Exreamly dangerous ain't it, the onboard flood lights don't seem to have a great deal of intensity an spread! An there was several instances where the pilot could of flow straight into power lines on this video an low lying obstacles, I know GPS an other significant avionics are a great help during night missions.. an no possibilities of bird strike like that of day light hours.. But honest why dust at the dead of night!!!..😂😦😲😲😞.

*BLACK * where I worked in central California it was due to the bees being out in the daytime and in at night. Don’t want to kill them. Never hit a wire at night - only in the daytime. Wires show up very good at night, especially when it’s dark / less glare.
