My grandmother made a delicious breadnut dish which is lost to antiquity.. We were all born in Dominica and moved to Trinidad and Tobago many decades ago.

Lovely site. We’ll be trying out these recipes. Anyone know this group singing or the names of those songs? I’m Dominican but living in England for years now and I do remember these songs when I was younger. Brings back some warm feelings.

You should make that faster because all that time you are taking will make the titiwi spoil. They spoil fast. otherwise it looks better than most Dominican titiwi accra. When you buy accra usually is mostly flour with hardly any titiwi.

I want to thank you for this recipe. My granny use to do this for me as a child but she passed when I was pretty young so was going from memory. Thx for the measurements and making my heart happy again..❤

The titiwi has to be soaked in lime juice and then rinsed before adding other ingredients

In the US Virgin Islands we also add cucumber to our souse, and we use the water where the souse was cooked; then we eat it while it’s still warm with potato salad. Thank your for the recipe.

Thank you Joanne for this interesting recipe. I am looking for recipes using green plantain for my elderly father who is anemic. I'm excited to try this one. However I'm curious if frying it affects the iron content compared with boiled green plantain. Any thoughts?
