After exporting OBJ file, even in high setting, all faces, are appearing in render in Modo, and it is unaccptable. I see no use for Plasticity in quality renderings. Maybe Blender is more suitable for handling OBJ files, but I see similar problem. CAD files are for technical drawings, and game assets wher rendering is a secondary need.
@takerefuge3d15 сағат бұрын
I’ve never used modo so I’m not sure exactly what you mean? That the shading is faceted? That honestly sounds like a bug of some kind… I can get pretty good results from obj export in blender, maybe you should reach out on the discord as their is definitely vocal modo users there.
@MrSzwarzКүн бұрын
Maybe fot gaming it is OK, but for modelling geometry after exporting is a total mess, and useless.
@takerefuge3dКүн бұрын
Yeah you can retopologize and reproject. I do this often for sculpting details after the fact, but mostly I don't feel the urge to do polymodeling after the fact just uv and texture... It's far faster to get high quality hard surfaces from plasticity than creating them in subd but if you need sub d for what ever reason then that is another perfectly good but slower way of working.

Most of the time, I don't know how to use Xnurbs. I prefer to draw guide lines for layout, which gives me a more accurate appearance. Xnurbs is only used when dealing with complex and subtle deformable surfaces
@takerefuge3d17 күн бұрын
Yes you're right using curves gives a lot more control, but I also find it very useful in simple situations to achieve G2 tangency on areas where a simple patch or lift would fail with out taking it further, there are also instances were patch and loft yield better results than xnurbs so it is very much trial and error and case of best tool for the job.

does this fix jagged corners you often get when remeshing?
@takerefuge3dАй бұрын
Depends on how you use it, it can be used as a part of many different workflows, but there's not a single band aid fix I tend to use quad remesher at the end of a model or as a way of iterating you may need to re sculpt or reproject details, as you will lose detail, fortunately nomad is pretty good at reprojecting

The plug in or Plasticity?
@salomon_gutierrezАй бұрын
Nice to see Plasticity getting so much love and enthusiasm. I have been considering it myself as a good modelling aid. However ,I want to use it to model for game engines and I have been wondering how was the topology when transferring to Blender. How has your experience been in this regard? Cool vid, keep up the good work!
@takerefuge3dАй бұрын
Pretty good to be honest, I mainly model with a game asset workflow. you can get tris or ngons out at different levels of detail. And uving ngons is a breeze. If you check out my channel I actually made a blender plugin for optimizing ngon based mesh in blender to prepare plasticity (and other ngon based hard surface models) there's a free lite version on Gumroad. I feel like its easier to optimize a plasticity output generally than optimize as you go doing hard surfaces in blender. But that might just be me. Any way that's my take on it.. Also if you do decide you want to buy plasticity check out my discount code in the description.

You got some amazing content showing plasticity. I started looking into it. What annoys me the most with Rhino is chamfering and filleting. But I also use project to surface and follow along curve a lot, can plasticity do these things aswell ?
@takerefuge3dАй бұрын
Thanks for that. And to answer toe question Plasticity has imprint curve as well as project curve command as well as a curve array if that's what you mean.
@sveinjohansen6271Ай бұрын
@@takerefuge3d thanks, gonna check it out. the 149 dollar version is not gonna cut it as it does'nt support step file export so I can export back to Rhino for final assembly or sending the object to our CNC and robot machins for wood carving :( hehe.

@sveinjohansen6271Ай бұрын
@@takerefuge3d tried curve array, yeah it works, but not strong enough, it misses the option to follow along a curve with 2 sides where the width of the curve goes from small width to larger width to smaller width. Theres only a scale option. That I think broke my workflow :( its for ornaments in woodworking which I have been using Rhino for last year.
@takerefuge3dАй бұрын
@@sveinjohansen6271 Ah I know what you mean The curve modifier combined with array blender has a similar function where you can assign different weights to control points... Its a good point and I might check feature requests and add a request if there isn't already one on the feature requests page

Great little handy video, I'm Interested to know how you did the nice rounded buttons :)? I'm having a guess that you stretched out a circle curve, cut the curve in the centre and revolved it, then flatten to taste ? :) Thx
@takerefuge3dАй бұрын
Actually did them a few different ways. The key pad buttons I extruded out from a circle and then applied raise degree twice pulling the centre vertex out and the outer ones in and then filleted the edge. For other buttons I unioned a sphere to cylinder then flattened the sphere part by selecting that face and scaling on the relevant axis

The NO calculation method for generating a circle in your LOGICAL Method is to create the circle using 2 Point Circle from diagonal vertices of the square.
@terryd8692Ай бұрын
Or you could just draw the 15cm square base then draw a circle to the corner. Extrude the circle up, draw the sphere, etc like the first one.
