The hypocrisy and irony permeating this comment section are alarming. It’s as if a star could extinguish, or a mere blanket over one’s face could provide true sanctuary. These thoughts and opinions, hastily typed onto a virtual page, mirror the very fears that fuel selective outrage and paranoia. Rarely do we consider their origins; instead, we perpetuate these narratives as self-evident truths. The only aspect truly self-evident is language’s tendency to be repetitive, especially when it mocks or trivializes the universal recognition that all people deserve freedom and human rights. Ricky Gervais and Dave Chappelle face criticism because they operate within an economy heavily influenced by socio-economics and capitalism. The term “cancel culture” is often misused; in reality, it doesn’t exist as a tangible entity. Civil unrest over human rights issues naturally heightens awareness indefinitely. The confusion surrounding so-called cancel culture stems from a failure to acknowledge key factors-primarily, individuals’ choices to support or boycott an artist’s work. The real failure lies in recognizing those who have been exposed to negative stereotypes or edgy comedy about human rights, often from perspectives lacking firsthand experience. It’s as absurd as claiming to know what it’s like to walk on the moon without ever having done so. Projecting such uninformed views, whether as a KZbin commenter or a comedian, is profoundly ignorant-and that’s putting it kindly. James Acaster hits the nail on the head with his delivery. It’s as unbiased and inclusive a commentary as I can think of in response or objection. If you’re ever unsure, do your best to read the room and trust experts. Educate yourself in media literacy and critical thinking, with an emphasis on avoiding logical loops and fallacy.

At my youngest brother's baptism, pre-Vatican II, the celebrant went to each set of godparents asking them what they are naming the child. He would then recite the name back in its Latin form. One couple announced the baby's name as Willanna. We six siblings exchanged knowing glances when we saw the expression on Mom's face. Once back in the privacy of our car in the parking lot Mom let fly, "Can you believe that? They are supposed to use a saint's name! Willanna! How can father allow that?"

Remember the bad old days when prisoners were chemically castrated with Leuprolide acetate and goserelin? Well, we don't use them on prisoners anymore, so why don't we give them to teenage boys? Change the name to Zoladex, so they don't realise what it is, and then call it gender-affirming? What a laugh that would be!

One of few true geniuses of our generation 😊 ❤️❤️ even when he's negative, (which is sadly often) he makes us laugh and even sometimes points out the positive 😊 I believe him. He feels hard to live in his head as thoughts overwhelm him as do most of us. I feel that too most of the time. But I find a way to get over the insanity my mind drags me in. Mostly with humor like him. And I am thankful to him forever for strengthening that with his humor. Sometimes you feel alone, because in all this outside insanity, nobody finds things odd but he does and he bluntly points out those. And I feel relieved thinking someone else feels that way too. Like when he said, "I hate my job. But what if I lose my job?" 😅😅 People live in such circumstances and find nothing odd. I remember Dylan Moran when I think, "am I the only one who thinks that's crazy?" 😅 Thanks Dylan You are my hero ☺️
