Kate of The Last Homely House uploaded a KZbin video recently featuring a very lovely pink quilt that she made. I enjoyed watching her share the decision-making process as well as the actual sewing. Kate is such a wonderful and talented person.

You'd have to see color-palette-wise what you think when you put it all together, but how sweet would it be if your mom's was a mix of all the colors you used in your sisters'?

Eliza is such a strong and brave little girl. She's also gorgeous. I can see both you and Doug in her. Your quilting is coming along beautifully. I'm hoping to get into some quilting after the holidays. I've had some major health issues this year and am hoping I have more energy to dive into more of the crafty things I love to do. Have a beautiful and joyous Christmas.

Perfectly imperfect is something I always think of when sewing. It makes the process more enjoyable! I have had some fairly bad cuts from my rotary cutter and burns from my iron - mostly cause I'm a clutz lol. And I've been sewing for 30 years, so it happens sometimes. Hope your finger feels better soon :)

They make a glove for that (for cutting). The Amish deliberately make a block that has error s. They call it a fear of god block, cause god is perfect

Quilting is so delicate, all the ironing and not distorting the fabric is a going concern for me when sewing. I also always recommend people wear shoes when using the rotary cutter, I’ve had so many friends drop them on their feet and sever tendons.

Do you know there is a very useful cutting tool for quilters? It’s a “lazy Susan” so you can cut all sides of your square (or whatever angle) on the right/left hand side. Check it out. It will make cutting sooo much easier😌

Thanks so much for this tutorial. I wonder if Purl Soho has changed the guidance on W&T since you posted though? Instructions now state: 'Keeping yarn in back, slip next stitch purlwise from left needle to right needle. Bring yarn to front. Return slipped stitch to left needle. Turn work so wrong side is facing you.' The way shown in the video clearly states your first step is to bring the yarn forward. I have started working as shown in the video and will happily continue that way, but I am curious as to the difference between starting the W&T with the yarn at the back vs the yarn at the front. What difference might this make to the finished look and why might they have changed the pattern? Could it be to make the wraps easier to see/pick up?
@stacyelstone8 күн бұрын
@@suzecooper I’m not sure why it’s different. I’m pretty sure I do mine differently than in the pattern, but this is how I’ve done them on all of my wraps and I love the way it looks!

Your quilt blocks look so good! Don’t forget that the bigger pieces you did should come to a point a quarter inch into the block because of seam allowance on the perimeter! They looked spot on to me!

Just caught up on day 11 - I get the frustration with wanting perfection. Such a process. I made my first quilt a few years ago and could only see the flaws. But I gifted it to my daughter and it keeps her warm every night and I’m so proud now. Trust the process. ❤
