I just mounted mine to a vesa monitor arm. Now I need a light source. Will give this a try. I have a printer but my friend has a ender 3. Mines a cheap tina 2 and probably wont like a 6h print.

Great job!!! I have an emco compact 5 too, I have printed your tool holders and they are wonderful, I would like to try to make the improvements you have made to the lathe, like the DRO and the speed control of the engine.@@NoMercy1900

Thanks for the video man! I accidentally pushed that button, but didn’t realize it, and the mirrors folded in. I had no idea how to make them stay out! I pushed them back out, but when I opened up my door the mirrors folded back in. Thanks again for the assist!

Do you have the STL for the collar that sits on the front? How do you have the calipers mount, 2 sided tape? A tutorial on this would be fantastic or possibly a way the reach out to you? I have an Emco compact 5 and will need to this upgrade for a job. Thanks for your time and awesome machine.

I did use 3M adhesive tape to mount the caliper. Here you can download the STL file for collar mount: drive.google.com/file/d/13RvBdbxiNhuF9bJWv5Ix5mzqr6EMaR9Q/view?usp=sharing

Nice panel but why does the readout keep flashing on/off ?
@NoMercy1900
@NoMercy1900 Жыл бұрын
It does not flash in real life, the camera refresh rate and the display refresh rate are different and because of that it looks like it is flashing, this is a common known thing about most cameras.

@NoMercy1900
@NoMercy1900 Жыл бұрын
It is reasonable, need a little bit patience and you have to make sure there is no play in the slides. All I turn is steel and stainless steel, but it takes more time than a bigger lathe, you just can't take much off in one pass, I rather had a Compact 8, but I don't have the room for that, but all in all I am happy with this little lathe, specially after VFD conversion.

I have a Vevor 8kW heater and I can confirm that the combustion exhaust is at least twice as hot as the clean hot air exhaust. What an appalling performance for the heat exchanger radiator. We need much bigger and much more efficient 3D-printed radiators to extract the most heat from the combustion chamber and gases, but also to ensure that both the combustion and heating circuits are completely separate (too many joints and other possible sources of combustion gas leaking in the current design), as well as ensuring that the cold clean air is pre-heated to 300°C before entering the combustion chamber. Right now, these diesel heaters are a huge waste of energy and force the user to tinker around to retrieve this wasted heat. It's good to have 2 sources of heat, clean and dirty air, but there is a serous lack of after-market products such as a mass heater which would nicely complement the heater with a solution that will continue to radiate heat for several hours after the heater is stopped. A proper power supply should also be incorporated into the case, with a switch, a battery and a trickle charger. These manufacturers probably can't do it for liability and certification reasons (it's supposed to be a 12V vehicle heater, not something you plug on an outlet), but we're lacking standard design plans and list of parts to make it easier to implement, so I'll have to figure it out for myself, based on all these KZbin videos.

Exhaust heat recovery is not an aim in this video, but for other applications, it does serve to remind us just how much heat we are wasting through the exhaust.

While I appreciate the video, and your English is quite good, I purchased this monitor to help me calculate costs of operating different pieces 0f electrical equipment. How do you do that? Your cost displayed in the video was “0”, as was mine after leaving it plugged in for 5 days. I don’t believe it operated for free for all that time!?
@NoMercy1900
@NoMercy1900 Жыл бұрын
This was a while ago, but if I remember correctly it would show the costs after long usage, the reason it didn't show anything in the video was short time testing on a new device. I do not use these last couple years but till then it was showing the costs, I switched over to Zigbee smart plugs and Home Assistant, all costs are measured there now. I would check if you set the price per kWh, it has two price settings and the time settings which price is for what time, I don't remember how it was to be honest.

Thanks a lot for sharing your testing. I just bought silicon to seal exhaust but it can only stand 300C, did not realise the exhaust could hit 350C ! Did you 3d print the red/orange stands ?

FYI supposed to have very slight bends, if any at all. def dont want to stress out that lil fan
@bigoldgrizzly
@bigoldgrizzly Жыл бұрын
Particularly important on the exhaust. The expansion of gasses due to heat increase, combined with the increase in volume from chemically turning a liquid fuel to a gas, gives more than double the volume of exhaust compared to the input air, yet it still has to discharge through the same size port and exhaust pipe. This doubles the speed of exhaust gases and since resistance to gas flow [ie backpressure] dramatically rises with increase in gas speed, the fan unit has to work hard. Any additional bends introduced will make this much worse, and will further restrict the gas flow and tend towards a fuel rich incomplete burn That little fan already has a tough job, don't make it worse with added restrictions..
