I love to see what the weather is like, and occasionally if I'm lucky, I arrive when you two are cruising! Steve, your mincemeat tarts look lovely. I make my pastry in the food processor too because I find it so much quicker and it seems to blend it better. Can't wait to see who wins the challenge. Congratulations on the news of an addition to your family! 👶🍼🎀

My old mum was not a natural in the kitchen but she was certain of what she learned. My old dad didn't cook often but when he turned his hand to it, great things happened! He could make a damned fine steak and kidney pie and the pastry was spot on! It probably drove my mother mad. His mum (my grandmother, one Bessie Graham) was a good Scottish cook and after her husband died, made her living as a cook. Seems that the cooking gene got transferred to one of her male offspring per generation. It now resides in me, it seems. I astounded my late wife by once announcing that I would make a proper steak and kidney pie. She was, to say the least skeptical. It came together a treat! LADS CAN COOK AND DO IT RIGHT! Have the best Christmas!
