Does that hood/filter work to keep your lab from smelling like a nail salon? What is the fee to join the ORG?
@RetainerDesigner6 күн бұрын
Yes! It helps a lot with the monomer fumes! Plus I have it venting outside. Any kind of unit with charcoal filter in it should help with fumes in the lab. The fee to join ORG ranges from $50-250 depending on the size of your lab. You can check out the levels here: orthodonticresource.com/membership/#join

Just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for all your videos! I have had a small Ortho lab for 17 years and finally feel the need to move to digital prints. My question is, have you found a print material that won’t bond to the acrylics when making Hawley retainers? It seems that most if not all dental prints bond to the acrylics. Thank you so much!
@RetainerDesigner8 күн бұрын
There are some printers that make a special resin that you do not need separator on. Check out Desktop health (Envisiontec) or Stratsys printer I believe they may have some specialty resins, that allow you to use traditional plaster separator or no sparator

Not sure if you have checked out my website yet, but I do have some Wirebending 101 exercises, that may help get you started. blog.retainerdesigner.com/?s=101 Another option, probably faster, is taking the Great Lakes Tech hands-on course, It is expensive and you have to travel to be there in person, but I heard it was a great productive course! www.greatlakesdentaltech.com/basic-removable-appliance-fabrication.html

What is the name of the blue liquid?
@RetainerDesignerАй бұрын
That is monomer. I call it clear monomer even though it looks blue. It is actually violet tinted to counter cat the natural yellowing of regular clear monomer. Make for a super clear acrylic when finished!

@davieneАй бұрын
You can just put a small amount of wax underneath the plastic it doesn't need to break the model. Once it stood up, just make little adjustments to balance the expansion. It saves time. That's it.

Hi! Very informative. How do you handle the ditching for 6s that are at an angulation such as pointing more lingual? My understanding is that meshmixer will only drop the ditch based on the Y-axis.
@RetainerDesigner2 ай бұрын
That's a good question, might be easier to just 1, Print normal and ditch it by hand using a bur 1. Ditch digitally but using a digital "Carve" tool, or 3. change the y axis using the to match the angle you need using the Edit>Transform tool in mesh mixer then ditch one side, the change the y-axis again and do the other side. Not sure if any of these would be better just thinking off the top of my head :)

Hello Cade thanks for another video. I have a question why do Drs ask for C clasp on Hawleys, is it for more stability?
@RetainerDesigner3 ай бұрын
Good question! They usually want them so that there is no occlusal interference, since they are usually go behind the most terminal tooth, they don't have to cross over the occlusion like Adams and ball clasps do, allow the teeth to settle into place.

Too expensive this machine will sink your business. It’s like an albatross you’re trying to work as hard as you can to pay this equipment and you never will because of the software fee. Good luck.
@RetainerDesigner3 ай бұрын
You make a great point! this will be a technology that will have to fit someone's lab and its situation perfectly. Brings me back to when 3D printing started hitting our industry, at that time us small labs sat back and watched the "Whales" in our industry (The larger Ortho Lab) be the first to buy the first 3D printers. Then the 3D printer prices started coming down in price for us smaller labs to dip our toe in. This technology is and echo of that, but i believe more smaller labs will be quicker to embrace and make the investment. But like you said, if you don't do your homework first, it could sink your lab!
@perry72663 ай бұрын
@@RetainerDesigner I would be in 100% if it were $10,000 for the machine and 1000 for software a year that’s where it should be just saying - they have no competition that’s the issue -love your videos. Stay up.!
