Yes, Lani Hall was missed a great deal but these singers are very good. BTW, Michael Douglas was underrated as a singer. He was very good indeed.

I was in the audience of this actual show for our 8th grade field trip. And my added bonus I was interviewed by Michael Young on this show and was on TV because of it. I asked Mike Douglas why he moved his show from Philadelphia to LA. I can't believe I found this clip.

What a great medley of songs and beautiful singers too, especially Marietta Waters. Reliving the past when music was great and stress free. Sergio Mendes' music is relaxing.

I have seen Sergio Mendez 3 times in concert. First time in summer 1969, second time in the 80's third time at the Hollywood bowl when the Summer Olympics were in Brazil. They were fantastic every time. Love this group!

I saw Sergio Mendez at the Hollywood bowl the summer that the Olympics were in Brazil. Great concert! Special guest stars were Herb Albert and Lani Hall. Talk about great! Also other Brazilian acts that were great. A great way to celebrate the Summer Olympics!

Unbelievable energy of the girls dancing and swaying wearing those long gowns and high heeled shoes especially Marietta Waters. Incidentally liked her so much when I was in my late teens to early twenties(late 70's to early 80's) after watching Sergio Mendes and Brazil 88 on a different TV show that I can no longer remember. Find her so beautiful. But this video still brings back memories of those times.

Even through most of these performing artists are Brazilian citizens born in Brazil, all of these shows were performed in New York City.

I was the bassist for Sergio Mendes on all of these videos.......we are not all Brazilian and most of the shows were taped in California.

@@warrengiancaterino3733 They weretaped in New York City because they were on the Ed Sullivan TV show. Ed Sullivan was the most positive person in America, the opposite end of the murderer Charles Manson.

Too bad the interview gets cut out, would have been interesting. This seems to have been live, not canned music with lip synching (?) Not much footage of Sergio & Brazil doing that....

When playing my cassettes in the late 70s and early 80s then, cds in later years, I never knew the singers...now because of these videos, my guesses were having answers as to who sang them in groups or solos...’though everyone aged/ matured, my liking of their music becomes more now than ever; hoping that in future concerts, all present and these previous singers will be present that would be my greatest wish...who’s gonna forget “waiting for love” and “the trouble with hello is goodbye” & “ put a little love away” by bonnie ...”bridges” & “so many stars”as well as “the waters of march” by marietta or carol...”pretty world & “like a lover” by lani & karen...”i believe” & never gonna let you go by liza & marietta/liza & joe plus “what do we mean to each other” those are classic songs that define the music of the disco 70s & pop alternative 80s...this discofied song is one of their best, too
