The only sad thing about Svelte is that the whole community is communist/woke shit. Clearly they are not up to criticism. Lucky for us, Rich is smart regardless of being British.

56:00 - Twitter is embedded in the culture, as is Meta - it's a joke and a laugh to supplement Twitter with a Twitter clone. All you're doing is wasting your own time and further splitting your precious time. When the founders of Blue Sky throw in the towel it will die off and give back the .002% usership to the defacto ADHD scroller. Otherwise great cast with Rich as alwasys.

I will always hold that the magic of Svelte is Rich's charm, not the functionality. No hate, but it truly is just repeating what backbone & vue had already explored - the course correction from 3 to 5 were things Evan foretold - it's not rocket science. Without this man's superb presentation & articulation skills, Svelte would just be in the bin with Blitz & Qwik & Vanjs & Mithril -- all doing interesting quirky approaches but in the end - they don't have a Rich Harris.

Also Rich's good taste and ability to course correct.

@@Sammi84 yes great point, too often the story is one of ego and stubbornness; the man really is a gem.

Can you use normal svelte components and modules inside a svelte web component? And then if thats possible can I use that svelte web component inside other non svelte web components?

On the ORM topic: I kind of agree, I've always written raw SQL. That was until I recently started on my first database-intensive project in TypeScript. Having an ORM that provides types that automatically update if I update the query or the database schema rocks compared to doing that manually. Looking into drizzle and kysely at the moment.

It's a shame replicache isn't open source but I can imagine software like that needs a lot of funding.

Would it be possible to do interactive polls with partykit? Basically a slide where the host shows a live graph of the poll state and the client’s get an input form.

The ugly truth is that SvelteKit was designed with SSR in mind. If you need an SPA, you better forget SvelteKit and just create a Vite project with Svelte. It works wonders: zero boilerplate, no weird configs.

I also dislike that the create svelte defaults to a SvelteKit project and not really Svelte. Not sure why they did that change. Svelte on it's own is great, trying to force SvelteKit in every project isn't a good idea. At least we have create vite and other options, but Svelte should review this and still offer a way to start plain Svelte project.

It can be useful in some cases but should not replace if/else. Templates are often overbloated and hard to read and it's better to see informative "else if thing == 'bar'" than less informative "case 'bar'"

Thank you some much for this ! is not only a really powerful learning asset to understand a more complex use case of svelte / kit . It is the solution i was looking to make dinamic online presentations , beautiful , consistent and with AI generated content. Easy to personalize for each user, simple to add generated content. Looking forward for the next step....
