One thing that is good to mention as well is that, some external libraries are not compatible with Svelte5 (yet) because they used Svelte4 internals (which they shouldn't have, but oh well!). So when upgrading, best to check if your external libraries are compatible!

One of my coworkers was really disappointed that Svelte added runes since it made this very simple way of writing components a tad more complicated. I told him that it has been done for a good reason and its very handy to have this in a video now. I kinda wish there was a easier to digest tl;dr; video that explains the cases why this is done thought.

Here is the TL;DR: Svelte is now easier to use.

While Runes fixes particular problems, there is no single example how Readable store can be implemented with runes. Discord channel has many questions about Store with runes, but none of them has been answered, except suggesting to use Svelte 4. This sucks.

The examples in the video make Svelte 4 look so much better than upcoming Svelte 5... Wow

This is hilarious, a framework set out to be simple and approachable changing its core API year over year 😂 all while proclaiming itself a programming language unto itself- kids - stay away. Stick to standards

What do you mean? Svelte has been largely the same since 2019. This is the first real change in 5 years!

Svelte does stick to standards tbh... they just realized they made a mistake, owned up to it & changed it, so there's even less mental overhead dealing with the problems described 🤷🏻if you want to achieve everything Svelte does for you using just HTML, CSS & JS, be my guest 😅 but svelte does stick to web standards a lot imo.

What is "the standard"? Vanilla JS with a lot of spaghetti written garbage code?
