I know that it has been a while since I posted. I wanted to make a teaching video for people who want to learn the craft, but I couldn't schedule a time that worked with my friend. Also, I cut my hand and could not do work in the garage for a while. This is probably the last video for a while since I will be going to college soon. Thank you everyone for your continued support. Also, I appreciate the positive comments, but do not be afraid to criticize my work. I have been teaching myself this craft for 2 years now, and lack a teacher. This is the best way for me to have my work reviewed by a judge.

I know it's basic, but it really is fun to do. Rather than letting something rot in a garage, you can turn it into something that someone will use forever.

I'd grind that tip to a meaner point, would be a lot more useful if you could stab as well as slash.

Do you mean the first or second blade? The first one I agree, however, the second one seemed fine. There was a taper which made it a more pronounced tip.

Glass cleaner. I sometimes use WD40. When sanding at high grit, the paper gets clogged up. The cleaner… cleans it out.

Very nice work. I liked the detail on the handle, clever. If I might make a point or two, I think that the blade should be narrower. The walking stick looked a little bit too "fat" and bulky. Also, the handle was excellent but looked like a weapon in itself. I think those two factors combined would draw too much attention to your walking cane. Just a plain crooked handle and a thinner profile and you'd be onto an absolutely undetectable winner.

Thank you for the commentary. One of the reasons I post my work to KZbin is to get feedback. I will take this in consideration for my next project. Thank you and God bless.

It looks more like a war hammer or club than a walking cane. A cane sword is supposed to conceal the fact you're carrying a weapon, not advertise it!

Did you do the heat treat off camera?
@BoscoForge3 ай бұрын
Forgot to say it in the video, but this sword is being built for a group at my college. And because of this, there will not be an edge put on it. Therefore, it would. Be redundant to heat treat.

Love the symbolism of the project!
@BoscoForge3 ай бұрын
Thank you, I put a lot of thought into it.
@hancockheritageknifeco3 ай бұрын
@@BoscoForge Reason I was asking about the heat treat on Part 1 is the engraving you are looking to do. You may consider spray painting the blade and then copy the prayer over the layer of paint, then you'd scrape off the paint that reveals the steel under the lettering. Once that is done you can place the blade with the relief and the exposed lettering into a mixture of ferric choride and distilled water to etch the exposed steel. I've only ever done this myself with hardened steel so I'm not sure how it will react with a soft blade, but I typically let my blades sit 12-24 hours to get a satisfactory etch depth. Good luck!
@BoscoForge3 ай бұрын
@@hancockheritageknifeco Unfortunately, the blade is made of mild steal, so the etch wouldn't really show. See, this sword is going to be entrusted to a bunch of college boys, I don't want to have a hardened edge on it.

nice knife but it is not a Fairbairn Sykes, the is no ricasso with gimping, the over all shape of the blade is wrong, the Fairbairn Sykes is much narrower and very pointed. plus the Fairbairn Sykes had a metal handle and the pommel is much to wide and rounded, it should be pointed
@BoscoForge7 ай бұрын
I know the blade shape isn’t all there, and as far as the wood handle goes, not everyone has a large piece of brass to use as a handle. Sorry to disappoint.
