at 3:00 Rough stuff... Food poisoning on the mountain. I think you felt safe the entire time in Central America, but was it safe generally? We get such biased info here in the US. Anyway, had to add a comment since there were so few (come on cycle tourist!!! ... Support this talented rider like you support Iohan, Allee, and Simon / Forestry Forest!). You truly do fantastic work Marshall... Tony, Carbondale, CO, US of A.

at 7:40 or so... the helicopter ride... I used to work (kind of) for a very large Internet Hardware company (rhymes with San Francisco) and to say I had free rein on expenses is an understatement. My customers were rural Telephone Companies and AK (and the entire ski / mountaineering west) was my playground! So on one trip I hired a sight seeing plane to take us / customers / Senior Systems Engineers over a route very similar to the one you took...

PS... used to be a WW Government Sales Manager for a big Japanese camera company that sold internal inspection equipment (think endoscopes but for engines, pipes, welds, cracks, and so on...). The North Slope Oil companies needed our stuff to save money to inspect their equipment. Anyway, even back then, I used my / that position to travel to cool places to help them, and to help me, to explore... which I did! A lot... Like a personal paid travel service so to speak. Had a great time to say the least. So I've been to the North Slope a ton, and Fairbanks, and Anchorage, but not the in-between... Now into bike packing for a few years now.... And I will go there based off your videos, guaranteed! Thanks Marshall...

I'm mostly enjoying your videos but between you putting your stickers on that mountaintop in Honduras I think it was and you taking over a handicapped washroom like you're special somehow and the rules don't apply to you I think you have a lot to learn about respect and being a guest in another country. You are the worst kind of traveler and why people don't like American tourists.

@ 4:23 My worst moment happened on the return flight from Peru in Oct. 2023. I ate some, unbeknownst to me, raw chicken and it was infected with Campylobacter, a very, very nasty bacteria. It hit me 2 days later about an hour before touchdown in Denver... same blast-off moment, but in a confined airplane! 6 days in bed, and thank god it happened in Colorado and not at 14k feet in Peru. Great for weight loss though. Love your content / channel...

I'm doing this in early August and just starting watching videos and researching -- what time of year was this? Did you encounter any issues with crevasses (as it seems most people rope up)? Why did you have a harness on if you were going solo and didn't seem to use a rope to rap or anchor at any point?
@fatnomad6 ай бұрын
I believe this was late August/early September. I didn't have any issues with crevasses although there was one that was visible that I went around. I wore the harness because I had it and thought just in case I need rescuing better to be wearing one, or if I found a group I could rope up with then I would be prepared.

Funny story re stealth camping... in Utah, near Boulder Town, there was THE perfect view-camp site with east looking views of the Henry Mountains, up on a ridge after the Burr Switchbacks. But everywhere there were "Don't even think about it" type no-camping signs. I was on my touring bike and thought, no way anyone could ever see me. So I set up, camped, watched a movie, etc. It got dark, I got out of the tent with my headlamp on, and BOOM, flashing lights in the distance turned on, and a patrol car came speeding my way. For maybe 2 hours I expected to be arrested or something... nothing happened, but it got my heart rate going! Another perfect video. TM, C Dale, CO
