Charging up some super caps then plugging your phone in might make a better charger since you could crank for a few mins at high resistance every now and then.

If you made more gears from large to small you can make it spin faster with fewer turns and less energy spent.

The concept it self is not that impressive but the desgine of the motor is amazing, hope tear damage won't wearout the plastic parts

This idea would be really cool as pedals under your desk to power a computer so you can get excercise while working or gaming or whatnot. I think I've seen exercise bikes and rowing machines that say they generate electricity I wonder if it's with a similar method

Its a shame you put so much into rigidity and overkill on everything for rigidity, than install lead screws instead of ball screws :/ the amount of play they have compared to ball screws just undermines all the rigidity work you did for the produced parts to be as accurate as possible. Putting the screw so high on the machine also increases the leaver on which the forces will be aplying stress to the gantry. It would be beter to mount it between the rails or below the extrusion. also X is probably not as smooth because of 2 things: You are runing them dry in the video, so grease will help. i wouldnt run them dry like that at all. And when you mount the rails, it depends if you checked for parallelism...basicaly tightening them after the plate is mounted with the help of a dial and soft hammer :)

Hi Tim, very cool! I have built some hardware for flightsims (I use X-plane 11) like rotary encoders for controlling flight instruments and GPS/Radio/Autopilot. I like helicopters a lot and I am very interested in your project! Besides a yoke and throttle quadrant, including trimwheel, I have a good joystick (X52), but the expirience with the hardware you built would be way better. We (my wife and me) like the UK very much, been there often for holidays! Cheers from The Netherlands (North-East).

Does this method no longer work? After pressing the combine function and selecting the outer shell as the target body and the ribs as the tool bodies it creates a bunch (100+) smaller bodies. any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Hey Mr. Tom. I hope you are doing good. I'm from India. I love your videos and the way you explain. I have been watching your videos from past 2 years. My journey to this amazing channel was when I searched for ebike build videos. Since then I have followed you Since I changed my account I list my subscribe list. But then thanks to yt I remembered your channel back. I was actually planning to buy a car alternator for this project but then you came in and saved thousands of rupees. Thank you so much. Please keep up the great work😊😊😊.

his phone need 1h to charge from 45% to 100%, so I gues around 2 hours from 0-100%, I can assume that his battery is around 3300 mAh, That is the exactly capacity of single cell of Tesla Model S with has 5040 cells, so If he wanted to charge TESLA with this thing it would take over 10080 hours with is over 1 year, (420 days to be precise)

I REALLY want to make this for some reason. One part of me feels like there's no point, because of the electricity we readily have, but the other part of me thinks that this could help me be more self-sufficient and off-the-grid, or something. Anyways, 2-3 hours to charge a phone is actually extremely impressive. And if you made a generator from a bicycle, you could probably charge it even faster!
