I'm not comfortable with having 3 strength reductions in the rope with all those knots.

Great rescue harness rope using the 3 bowline thanks for sharing

That’s a cool short cut for a bowline, but it doesn’t actually finish as a bowline. The tail should finish on the inside of a bowline loop, not on the outside. I wouldn’t trust this as a life saving knot. I am basing this on testing the technique your boyfriend described and it’s very clear to see at 2:27. Otherwise, I appreciate the tutorial.

the knot that starts the bowline is a marlinspike hitch, thats the way I was taught to tie it and have done it since a youngun.

really awful demonstration of the most important part. The thing that is "basically the whole harness" you messed up on, and then turned away from the camera, used a second person and explained nothing to complete it. Wow.

Just fyi, you could have tied a double bowing knot and had the same result with one knot, maybe I'm wrong, I'm not a rock climber but I know my knots

A good skill in case of an emergency e.g. an extreme example would be if you were trapped in a burning building and had to get multiple people down.

Brilliant. It appears you are using a cowboy bowline which is fitting for your hat. You backup so doesn’t really matter. Consider improving waist with rethreaded bowline or bowline on a bite which may be easier to adjust tighter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/anKxZIGBjNuUqac

I only use a military harness commonly called a rangers harness or swiss seat....I personally use a continuous loop that I spliced as a harness .... ...and a second loop as a chest harness ..... I find them very comfortable if you use larger diameter rope ..... you can use wide webbing as well just use a water knot to join the ends

Why do Americans end words that end in ile or ine like ill or in. The e at the end of the word tells you that the i should sound like eye. It infuriates me. Mobile should end like bile, not ill. and Bowline should end like line, not lin. I can't bear listening to Americans for that reason. They do similar but the opposite with Nikon, as in Nikon cameras. The Americans say Neyekon. It's wrong, totally wrong and absolutely terrible and horrible use of the English language.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to be less american when I talk now! Great example picking the name of a Japanese company as an example of the correct way to speak English, could you give me a tip on how a British person might say Toyota or Subaru? I'm worried I might be saying them wrong too

The bowland/bowline knot is used because it won't slip and choke whatever the line is wrapped around, like most other knots will do.
