@@TheRaceForTerra The one thing I learned doing your method was..... do NOT buy HEAVY DUTY scotch pads. Only regular pads, else getting the bright aluminum paint through it is a real challenge and can increase the chance of messing it up.

@@TheRaceForTerra the Barbatos Rex channel is a good place to see paint reviews. Robert buys just about every paint line to try. He has his own line of paints and 2K clear, but I haven't tried any of them. I do have the Barbatos Rex Swallowtail airbrush though, and enjoy using it to lay down layers.

This is such an amazing finish. I am currently trying to work out how to do a candy coat for a warlord Titan (not mine) and this would honestly be a showstopper. But I’m not sure I’m brave enough to try this method on such a large scale
@TheRaceForTerra8 күн бұрын
Hi Skaldbrush, thanks for the kind words! The larger the scale, the easier it gets - my Orion Dropship was the easiest! I would give it a go if I were you, mate.
@SkaldBrush8 күн бұрын
@@TheRaceForTerra that’s very encouraging! I have a few questions about it if you have the time to answer. How does it affect the trim around it? Does it leave any thick texture or glossy surface? And if I were to make a mistake and it needed to be removed, is this a very “permanent” coat or will alcohol still break it down like acrylic
@TheRaceForTerra8 күн бұрын
Just subbed to your channel, mate! As for your questions: 1) this you would apply BEFORE you paint the trim, not after, so it won’t affect it; 2) However, I went over 2 Pallas I had previously painted - just makes the trim shinier, because it is way glossier than any paints or varnishes for mini painting. Can always knock it down it you like (cover the candy first); 3) when I say it’s tough, I mean it - there is no way you are removing it, except with acetone. You wouldn’t want to remove it, in any case! If your customer likes a glass-like finish, they’ll love it - otherwise I wouldn’t use it. Again, it’s a clear coat like those on actual cars, not a varnish. I hope this helps!
@SkaldBrush8 күн бұрын
@@TheRaceForTerra this is exactly what I needed to hear! If it were just my model I’d absolutely give it a go but when someone trusts you with a model that costs thousands I don’t think I should be taking any risks. If I could guarantee a result like yours I’d do it in a heartbeat but I think I’ll just play it safe and stick to the Tamiya clear (which your previous videos inspired me to try). Thank you for the sub mate! I’ll be sure to give you credit if it turns out well 🙏🏻

I'm JUST now getting into using Tamiya clears to airbrush miniatures (as in, they're arriving today) and based on your commentary, there seems to be a problem with dry tip while using them? I'll look through your channel for information on this, but any advice on using Tamiya clears while airbrushing would be appreciated. (I wish I'd have checked this out earlier. I suppose I could purchase some Mr. Color if they're far superior)
@TheRaceForTerraАй бұрын
Hi Void, no, I wouldn’t say Tamiya Clear colors are problematic, just not as entirely user-friendly as Mr. Hobby’s, as the latter are lacquers. I have painted an entire army using Tamiya Clear Red quite heavily, and I enjoyed it, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Just stay clear (pun intended) of the normal Tamiya Thinner, or even worse, rubbing slcohol, and get either Tamiya Lacquer thinner w/retarder, OR Mr. Color Leveling Thinner. That is a much bigger factor than the paint.
