I am living in America almost for 9 years. I came here from Ethiopa by winning DV lottery. But i am not happy. Disconnected from root is very hard.I am working hard to start small bussiness in my country. But it is really hard to do that in recent situation because of bad political system. It is race based system which discourage most of the peoples to work in their country.I hope i will try if things are changed. Thank you for your update.

Very good video, Marvin. I was thinking a lot about this last year and can see both the pros and cons. I believe it could help bring money back to Kenya in the long term, and new skills will benefit the country. In my opinion, the deal itself isn't the issue, but there's a bitter aftertaste in the idea that Kenyans should be doing our lower-level jobs, while integration here becomes increasingly difficult. That's why I think brain drain won't be the problem in the long term; most people will likely return.

I agree. Kenya has no shortage of a young educated populace. So in my opinion professionals migrating abroad won't have any significant impact on the local economy. Not any time soon. It's not migration, but a deal to serve gaps in Germany for skilled and semi-skilled workers. When Euroupeans come to settle in Kenya, they call themselves "expats" not migrants. Similarly, it will be Kenyan expats working in Germany under this agreement. As a Kenyan who lived in Germany for a little over a year for grad school. I think the Kenyans who agree to go will get very homesick once they see what life there is like and most will return after attaining their short-term financial goals. Germany will have to cast a wider net to harvest skilled workers because, in my opinion, the average Kenyan wouldn't enjoy living in Germany longterm. Come back to this comment in a few years and I'll show you I am right.

@@MarvinGreiffenberg1 That is true. And I think once projects like the Konza Technopolis are up and running at their full capacity, even fewer Kenyan tech workers will want to go abroad. For Kenya's sake, I really hope this doesn't succeed. And I don't know why Germany picked Kenya of all countries instead of their traditional sources of labour; For starters, Kenyans don't even speak the language so opportunities for professional mobility will be very limited. I can't wait for 2027 when we finally kick Ruto out of office. Terrible to have a president like him who lacks vision.

You hit the nail on the head. First referring to themselves as ‘ us’ vs ‘them’ while in Kenya is already separating themselves from all the other humans beings in Kenya. On the black expat videos it is evident that AAs are isolating themselves from the general community. They want to create their own spaces, functions, community villages etc. The idea that we sold them into slavery is a huge barrier in integration. I hope that they will get to understand how faulty that way of thinking is in a continent so diverse in tradition and culture. On one video, an AA boldly proclaimed that it is his intention to create a children’s ’entrepreneurial program’ but the main agenda was to indoctrinating Kenyan kids to accept them so that in the future the AA will not have to go through the typical channels of acquiring citizenship and land. They want to eradicate the idea of Kenyan patriotism in the kids and have them saying they are pan Africans. They are playing the colonialist game and it is bound to backfire.
